I recently visited this food bank and would like to share my experience.

First, I want to acknowledge the positive aspects. The amount of food provided is generous, and the quality is very good. The work being done here truly helps families in need, and as a single mother, I deeply appreciate the support this service provides.

However, I did have some concerns about the staff interaction during my visit. When I arrived, I began the registration process, and the staff started filling out my information. Once it was mentioned that I am currently being temporarily housed by the government in Vaughan, the staff member abruptly tore up my registration form in front of me, stating that I could not be registered because my housing situation is temporary, although I could still receive food.

This response was confusing and disappointing, as many people live in temporary situations—whether renting, staying with family, or due to other personal circumstances. Everyone’s situation is different, and temporary housing should not disqualify someone from registering.

Additionally, during my visit, I noticed some unprofessional behaviour. One staff member was repeatedly slamming doors, which created an uncomfortable environment for everyone in the waiting area. Also, after receiving my food items, I also realized that one of the two cartons of almond milk I had been given was missing. Since the carts are taken to another door for pickup, it seems that during that transfer, one of the staff may have removed it. I had noticed earlier that a black female staff member briefly removed one of my milks before putting it back, so it was strange to find out later that it was missing.

Overall, I appreciate what this food bank does for the community and the help it provides. I only hope that staff interactions and professionalism can be improved so that all clients are treated with respect and fairness, regardless of their living situation.

"Every Thursday and Friday, you can visit to pick up food from 10 a.m. to 3 or 4 p.m. Be prepared to wait more than three hours to receive food. If you arrive first, ask for a staff member and register to receive a code number. You will need to provide your code number each time you visit this location."

There is a lady there who is doing Irisecki. I have to go here for more than a year. When it's my turn, he tells the ladies there to give me less. I mean, I can't bring anything, I don't like the work team there, they don't laugh, they discriminate.

I don't understand why this Food bank takes so long to serve the people in need of food.
Other food banks in Vaughan are not this slow ! Waiting 2 hours or more to get food !
Minus freezing temperatures or blazing hot sun. Please management do something to improve this situation because it's unacceptable. In the Richmond hill food bank you get out of there in less than 35 minutes!!!
Please Please Please Do something!!

For the first time at this center, I experienced very rude behavior from one of the staff members in the food bank. Her behavior was really bad, and today I felt very small and ashamed. On my way home, I couldn’t stop crying. People who work in these places should really love their job. I feel sad for myself and also for that woman.
