United Counties Leeds and Grenville building is a place to go if you are in a low income position and looking for help. After filling in an application you may qualify for assistance but there is no help if you are at the poverty line, only if you are below it. The building is kept very clean, but not all the workers are friendly. Many have become jaded from years of people abusing the system. Although it can be a hassle, you can get help here if you are struggling to find housing, or finances to feed yourself or your family. The program is not always fair, and not all clients are treated the same. Depending on the worker you are assigned you will be able to get more help easily then others. The system isn't great at this program, and is supported by tax payers, but it is necessary. It would be nice though if they find a way to help their workers from being unfair to clients, and treating everyone equally. They also need to find ways to get more housing in this county. They can provide all the help in the world but if they don't promote the clients to start trying to help themselves then it becomes care that needs to be provided to the client on an ongoing basis. They need to start more work related programs, educational programs,and self care and resource finding programs. These would help their clients become self dependent. This building is well maintained but really that is not what it is about. It is about helping people get and stay financially stable which they do, sort of, when it comes to immediate help, but they don't help very well to set up the client to care for them selves.
