I have no issues with donating and would be open to learning more about what causes and countires UNICEF is currently supporting. But the door-to-door interaction I had with one of the representatives yesterday afternoon was a bit unsettling and left me feeling quite uncomfortable & insulted. If that is the tactic - then you can ignore this review.

First she gave me a backhanded insult that I don't watch the news - since I didn't know that there was going to be a UNICEF representative in the neighbourhood.

Then didn't properly explain the process - I was polite and provided my information thinking that I would receive an email from UNICEF and could discuss with my partner when he came home how much we could donate. But turns out I need to give that amount right then and there. So I said I can't I am sorry. I told her I would go on the website on my own time if I was ready to donate to which she responded "thats good but i won't get the credit" with a chuckle. I am sorry!?

So like I said - unsettled, bad taste in the mouth and not sure that is the type of representation UNICEF would want.

I live on the west end of Toronto, and the person came to the door around 4pm. Happy to provide more information if you would like to talk to this representative about learning a new approach.

I saw on the news that UNICEF Canada boss Linton Carter refused to meet the families of the Israelis murdered on October 7th attack. What a shame really! A biased organization in my opinion. Hypocrisy at its best...

Unicef goes to places in the world that many charitable organizations wouldn't dare go. They offer help to the poorest most devastated communities on our earth. They provide disaster relief, family supports, food distribution, post natal/early childhood support and medications It's just a great charity to donate to.

I am stopping my subscription.
They were not active at all when Syrian civil war was happening and now, Regime in Iran is killing so many children, not only UNICEF is quite, they throw parties and invite Islamic Republic’s officials.

Find $ for your overpaid staff somewhere else!

I happily donated to UNICEF online, but they need to rethink their door-to-door tactics. Their representative told me he could only take an "open-ended" gift and said the only way to do this was by providing my credit card details over his phone. I confirmed online that this is in fact how UNICEF's door-to-door solicitations work, but there was no way I was going to do that. I suspect many others would be uncomfortable providing such details to a stranger. UNICEF, please reconsider the nature of your door-to-door solicitations. The ask is too much and makes for unpleasant encounters which cannot help your cause.

UNICEF is a great organization but I am extremely unimpressed with the way UNICEF Canada manages monthly donors. I have been providing a modest monthly donation for years and have recently changed some banking details. I called UNICEF to inform them of the change and they asked for my new information, which I provided, repeatedly. So you can understand my shock when I see that my old account has been overdrawn by UNICEF, again and I have to pay overdraft fees. Thanks UNICEF, you just lost a regular donor.

Three young people came to my door. Nice, well-spoken, sincere.
Donation procedure is not clear up front. The slow realization
you can only contribute fixed amount on a monthly basis comes
at end of presentation after you give a page of personal info.
I felt tricked. I know it's a worthy cause, but I don't want to be
tricked into giving.

The world is too tricky and UNICEF is too worthy to be part of it.
