😬 it could be better managed. They mix the clinically mentally ill, high as kite, attitude people with everyone who just wants to sleep and get their life back on track...at least 1 in every room....nothing like Listening to some dude argue with himself about how much he hates someone for an hour, then someone takes a phone call then someone coughs as loud as they can arrogantly...I mean it's pretty hellish when you exist off of 5 hours sleep everyday.

At least the food is good. But I wish there were some disciplinary action to help change some behavior that's keeping people from developing relationships, jobs ect. But the system is broken and I don't think staff are allowed to do anything.

They are not what you might think. They are a organization that needs to be investigated. I have had an experience that most people would not believe. People that know of it are completely blown away about the I was treated including doctor's nurses and.other professionals. Please don't think they are Saints cause they are far from that. You that don't like my post have not had a experience that I had cause if you would have you would be completely blown away with some of there policies.

I did not want to stay at the shelter, I have housing and access to food. However, I can't afford furniture to furnish my apartment. The mission had a few milkcrates out in their garbage on garbage day and I went to grab them to use them as shelves. A staff member came out to yell at me and tell me I wasn't allowed to take their garbage that they were sending to a landfill because it "wasn't mine". Why does the mission feel that I as a low income person have no right to take literal garbage that they are going to burry underground so that I can have shelves in my apartment? To me it seems like the wrong attitude for an establishment that is supposed to help less fortunate people.

Former volunteer- The mission has always provided for those who are less fortunate and the counsellors are amazing. My only issue is with a lot of frontline workers. There is a lack of respect and humility from them. Clients should not be looked at as a number or a paycheck. There are those that don't belong in this field and unfortunately the clients suffer from it. Other than that I believe the mission plays a vital role in the community and will continue to be a beacon of hope for those that go through the programs provided.

Was there for 2ish or so year they are useless in everyday they catch a nasty attitude for literally nothing they also will sit behind the glass and talk untruths about clients or would gossip about clients saying hurtful thing when you try to bring it up with Frontline supervisor that man won't even give you the time of day they do not conduct any type of searches on people for weapons drugs etc and these are supposed to be cops in training 😒 the food was great the client's services was horrible I had a worker there named mac and he did very little he was uncompassionate towards certain clients if you want my honest opinion I had an easier time getting off the streets by not using their services. bed bugs lice etc are present there and if you want a second hand high that's the place to get it or if you like prison refinement if that sounds great to you that is the place for you Koodos. The ottawa mission is nothing but slum lords. Allowing previous nice buildings turn into slums. If you want good superintendents don't rent from district reality they take the word of bullies and lying Tennant over those who want to live peacefully. I've lived through pellet gun shot to my car to Crack pipes and garbage in the halls and lobby. I'm so sick and stressed I don't know what to do. Why don't they care for us seniors and children who have to live with this
