Our garage was built in the late 1950s and the brick foundation was in some need of repairs and we also needed to replace the garage floor replaced. We had previous work done by The Foundation Experts Inc. when we renovated our basement so we had Alex come out and give us a quote for the foundation repairs. Alex arrived at the scheduled time, and indicated that he would have to dig beside the foundation on one side of the garage to identify whether the issue was just with the top bricks or whether there was damage deeper down the foundation wall. He also indicated that they would remove the old garage floor and dig a hole in the centre of the garage to identify the type of fill underneath the existing garage floor.

Turns out my garage foundation was in very bad shape as the brick had begun to shift. In addition, the fill under the garage floor was clay which would have caused some of the issues. Alex provided some options to repair the garage foundation and explained all the steps that would be required to accomplish each option. The chosen option was to cut a channel every 16” in the cement block, inserting a metal rod into the channel and tying it into the wood base of the garage and pouring cement to fill the channel.

It took about a month to complete the work and it was completed on budget. I feel confident that the garage foundation will now outlast me. We also dug out the clay in the garage down to the footings and filled the garage with stones and laid down a new cement floor. As with the previous work done by The Foundation Experts Inc. we are extremely happy with the quality of the workmanship. Alex and his staff were extremely easy to deal with and Alex would provide regular updates on the status of the work.

This review comes a bit late (for work done in summer 2022) but I promised Alex (the owner of The Foundation Experts) that I would write one. After getting a few quotes, we chose The Foundation Experts to enlarge our two basement windows and create proper window wells where none existed. Of course, it was very important to find a company that is professional and highly experienced. Alex was great and he put our minds at ease by being easy to communicate with, pleasant, with fair pricing and demonstrating high knowledge and attention to detail. After a small delay (to be expected in this field yet Alex was always very honest and forthcoming), Alex and his crew showed up in early Aug 2022 and worked hard and yet very attentively to minimize any disruptions. I appreciated that Alex was on-site for pretty much the entire job. When a small lateral foundation crack was found, he explained what we could expect (both best and worse case scenarios - which fortunately turned out to be just a minor repair). Alex also took care of coordinating with the concrete cutting / removal contractor. Once the job was completed, the crew picked up everything, and even cleaned our driveway and the road. A few days later, our window company came and installed our new windows without any issues. Everything has been fine so far, and we love the extra sunlight and fresh air in our basements. - FE Inc. provided a 25-year transferable warranty for their work.
I fully recommend this company if you have water infiltration issues in your basement.

I was impressed by The Foundation Experts Inc. and the work that they did on the foundation at my home back in 2006, so it was an easy decision to call them when I wanted to address longstanding foundation issues at our childhood home, recently bequeathed to my brother, sister and me.

I was not surprised to learn that there was structural damage given there had been issues with water in the basement crawlspace over the years, temporarily addressed with patching but never fully examined by experts to be resolved. Still, the extent of the damage was a bit of a shock to me, and it was disheartening to see that the original foundation was built two feet below grade.

While these issues obviously increased the complexity of our project (at least from my perspective), I was glad that we had taken the step to get it looked into after all these years, and I had full confidence in Alex and his team to do the work needed.

Alex provided us with a clear plan and timeline for the work. Whenever there were options, we were given clear explanations to allow us to make informed decisions. If we had questions or concerns, they were answered and addressed. Everyone on site was always friendly and courteous, and I was never made to feel like I was in the way when I went to see how things were going. The worksite was cleaned and secured at the end of each day. I give top grades to every aspect of the work, and give the highest recommendations to The Foundation Experts Inc.

This is one of the best, if not the best, company I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. We had a crack in the wall above a large picture window—the support installed during the window installation was under-sized. The Foundation Experts Inc. easily addressed this and some other concerns of the house I asked about. The architect, Trench, was very much hands-on during the initial assessment once the wall was opened up and again for a final assessment and approval before everything was closed up. When I found cracks in my foundation I called The Foundation Experts and they were quick to come and assess the problem. Alex was great in explaining to me the problem, and explaining in detail the type of work that would be done. Big jobs like this can be stressful but Alex and his team reduced that stress by making things go as smooth as possible.
