The waitlist to secure housing is atrocious for people in immediate need. I read comments on social media platforms that they waited or are waiting anywhere between 1-2.5 years. With the strict barriers in renting outside of social assistance (most landlords frown upon those on assistance) as they want "working professionals" what are people's options, a motel, camp ground, shelter, friends couch or family if they are lucky to have that, and some people don't! I would really love to know what the action plan is to secure more units to accommodate for the demand of low income housing. People are being forced with impossible decisions because the resources meant to help are just not up to par.

Definitely this locations of Ontario works needs to be investigated for not being professional. I had a worker by the name of Lynn from there who only talked over my voice and was nothing but rude and hung the phone up on me when I was in need of financial assistance.... Clearly she and some other workers are violating people's rights. I'm not even sure the supervisers are doing there job someone from an outside non biased source CLEARLY needs to hold some people at this location accountable and possibly fire them. Get another job if you don't like the one you have or you can't do it properly!

I think that they should work with people who owe and let them make payments instead of making them pay first before getting housing. I personally can't afford to pay the whole amount at once because that is why I am in this situation in the first place ?and I don't agree to communicating by email when you can't email them.

1st I was taken off the list without being informed. Then when the place I found myself became unbearable because my landlord was harassing me so badly that it was effecting my health and I provided 3 Doctors notes to them as the proof they asked for with a letter telling them what they were doing they still wouldn't help me move. I'll be paying off that debt from leaving and moving til I'm dead. Aren't you supposed to help the vulnerable when needed?

They let us use a washing machine wasn't rinsing and spinning the clothes completely, wasn't working well for about 5 months. Numerous complaints and they did nothing to fix it. Now the dryer is broken as well. The people at the head offices obviously just don't care and are not the most intelligent . It would take some brains to think that "hmm" if the washing machine isn't rinsing clothes properly then the dryer would have to work harder..........

I would not even give one star to this administration board. When one defends their rights they will go to great lenghts of over power that person. I filed a complaint to the ministry of Ontario, so DTBSSA first accused me of a non-existant overpayment with Hydro. They had never paid hydro bills for me. Then they falsely accused me of threatening their caseworworker which felt threatened that their administrative behavour would be uncovered. Then the supervisor was not pleased that I refused to meet him privately in her office so they completely cut me off in July not even covering the low rental! As if that was not enough they also cut me off from all health care coverage in August. Yep, government knows. Abuse is accepted and tolerated. My recommendation? Move to another district.
