Extremely Dangerous and Negligent Leadership at Tabby Townhouse Co-op

I have lived at Tabby Townhouse Co-op for nearly seven years, but the past few weeks have been the most distressing and terrifying experience my family has ever faced. Due to ongoing safety threats stemming from criminal activity in the area, including drug dealers targeting our home, my family and I have been forced to leave our unit and live in a hotel for weeks. Despite repeated pleas for help and clear evidence of the danger we face, the co-op board has failed us completely.

What’s most shocking and infuriating is the behavior of the board’s president, Steve, who resides in Unit 3. When I asked to be relocated to one of the vacant units within the co-op for the safety of my children, he outright refused to support the move. Even more concerning is the fact that the very individuals responsible for the threats against my family are known to frequent his unit. This not only raises serious ethical concerns but also puts all other residents at risk.

To paint a clearer picture: my family, has been living in fear for our safety. We’ve endured harassment and threats, forcing us to leave our home. Despite on living on a budgetin this economy, I had no choice but to pay for temporary accommodations, which has drained our resources to the brink. Meanwhile, the co-op has done absolutely nothing to address these threats or to ensure the safety of my family.

The lack of urgency and compassion displayed by the leadership is appalling. How can a board entrusted with the well-being of its residents stand by while a family is terrorized? This is a gross failure of their duty to protect residents and maintain a safe living environment.

I feel obligated to warn anyone considering moving into Tabby Townhouse Co-op about the dangerous environment fostered here, particularly under Steve’s leadership. The negligence, lack of accountability, and clear ties to questionable activity make this place unsafe for families and residents.

I sincerely hope the co-op board takes immediate action to rectify this situation—not just for my family but for the safety of all who call this co-op home. No one should ever have to endure the fear, uncertainty, and lack of support that my family has faced.

Oh wow, Marterreon. I’m so sorry to hear that you had to deal with this kind of situation. It’s crazy how some people end up in leadership roles just to feed their own egos and go on power trips. From what you’ve described, it really sounds like there’s a conflict of interest going on, especially with the president of the board potentially being tied to these people.

If they’re not stepping up to protect you and the other residents, that’s a serious failure. All I can say is do whatever you need to do to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. Nobody should have to live under those kinds of conditions, especially in a place that’s supposed to feel like home.

Stay strong, man. You deserve so much better than this.

It is quite ALARMING and very concerning that certain events transpire in this community. I MOST DEFINITELY DO NOT feel safe staying here and fear for the safety of my family. We had an incident a few weeks back where a threatening letter was left in our doorstep with a green doggy bag of dog feces which was discovered first thing in the am by me…thank god the kids weren’t the ones to see that on their way to school!, the second incident, two men approached our doorstep on the same evening and long story short, THREATENED my spouse, they were swearing and yelling at the front door As our children are right in the living room and can hear EVERYTHING. Needless to say, our kids are now terrified to be in this community and we all are dealing with ptsd due to the incidents. No child should ever have to be afraid of every knock at the door or every loud voice on our street or that some bad man will come and kill us in the middle of the night.
The handling of these reported situations by the community’s board (which are also residents in the community) was dealt with in an extremely poor manner, there was neglect with security surveillance, neighbours don’t have their cameras on, etc etc etc…. Just PURE IRRESPONSIBLY AND NEGLECT. These members did not seem to care one bit and are trying to deflect any sort of responsibility in the matter. There are plenty of families with young children that live in the community and should not be subjected to this sort of harm. Allowing “questionable characters” and criminal behaviour to go on in the community is irresponsible, having someone ON THE BOARD who is connected to the assailants is CRIMINAL.
I would never recommend living here and personally think that the boards activity needs to be investigated.

Tabby town Co op is a great place to live I've been here since day one the only problems we have are the people that can't adapt to co-op living. As for contractors the ones we have now are the best that you could ever have the ones that complained about being on property or the ones that are the worst and I would never hire them. These are contractors I would not let manage or redo the basement of an outhouse.

I'm a shy person, so meeting new people is not easy for me. When I lived there I felt very uncomfortable the neighbours are nosy gossipers always judging you if you are not out chatting with them. The people at the front desk are VERY rude!! Im so happy I moved from that place!
