The last few months my family has gone through a series of unfortunate financial events. This lead to me being unable to feed my children. I had no milk, no bread, not a single essential. I tried calling to get a one time hamper just to get us through til next month where we could hopefully catch up.
We’re a family of 4, living on one income, which unless you’re making over 80k is just not easily sustainable with the rising cost of living, and no ability to save.
When I explained my situation, gave my information of who was living in the home and what we needed, we were turned away because my husband “makes too much”.
I tried to explain that’s not the case, and if it were, I wouldn’t be calling with negative funds in my account, trying to figure out how to feed our children.
I was told “I’m not going to argue with you” and that “we are not their priority”.
That was two days ago, and thank god for a neighbor who gave us a loaf of bread and milk for my children. We otherwise have not eaten.

I picked up hampers from the Foodbank to take to three less fortunate people who were unable to pick up the hampers themselves.
The Foodbank was organized and buzzing with plenty of volunteers who were very pleasant and helpful.

I agree with the previous post, the older lady who shows people around has a problem with Black people. She picks on them all the time. Shameful indeed.
