Wonderful wonderful wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about our experience here last night. Every single staff member we interacted with from start to finish was so kind and helpful. The nurses were so quick to get us extra warm blankets and were so friendly, and the doctors took our concerns seriously and helped however they could. The place was super clean and the wait times were quite short. Thank you so much to the wonderful staff!

Hussein the Security guard is a very nice man! He made waiting for 5 hours a bit more tolerable by offering me ice and sparking up a conversation, he even walked me to my car after. Hospital staff aren’t always the most nice sometimes so it was refreshing to see someone in good spirits!

I have diverticular disease consisting of 3 pockets in my intestine. I am at the learning stage of what I can eat and what I cannot. During this time I dropped down to 120 lbs which I should be around 135-140. My last visit to an emerg room was March, in Saint John,nb, and my family forced me to go. They instantly took care of me because the triage nurse knew how bad the pain could be. Last night I drove myself to STCH, WHICH I SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN DRIVING but had nobody to take me. I sat in the wait for 3 hrs crying. During this time I had 4 or 5 patients come and see if they could do anything for me being there alone. Not a nurse or doctor but sick patients felt for me, even went to the triage to tell them i was in a bad way. I went in with wet hair from sweating and chills my house coat and sweatspants probably looked homeless. At the point that it got worse and I needed to lye down I remembered I had mom's meds that were left over after she passed. I went to triage and asked them if Gabapentin was for pain. I stated you guys aren't going to take care of me I'm going home to self medicate as I couldn't handle the pain anymore. I'm a person that gave birth to two children with no epidural just a shot of demeral., if I'm crying due to abdominal pain it's not good. I then drove home in worse shape then when I drove there. 70 kms down the henday trying to keep my head up and eyes open filled with tears wishing someone would help me.im still in excruciating pain today but when its time I will have an ambulance get me and hope I don't take it from someone who needs it more. I won't drive again and if I have to make a bed on the floor to control the pain I guess that's what I have to do.
They asked if I had a dr. I said the dr. I ended up with knew nothing of western medicine I will assume. When I said I wanted to see a gastroenteroligist to see if I may need surgery to fix my bowel, he stated they don't do surgery for diverticulitis. I know multiple people that have had resection for diverticular disease. Not a dr. I want to go to having this disease if he is ignorant to western ways. I'm ready to contact my old dr. Dr. Lee who is now in Calgary and very educated. Unfortunately he moved right at diagnosis. I'm ready to drive 7 hrs to see him.
Thank you for not helping me last night, it was much appreciated. Thank God the Gabepentin took the edge off which the triage nurse said it wouldn't help. Well my dear they do use gabepentin to control diverticulitis pain.

6 hours spent in emergency triage.
Asked nurses for wait length expected and they couldn’t provide an answer. Tried to ask a nurse for water, and her response was, “not right now. I’m in the middle of something,” as she looked at her computer and ignored me at the door. She didn’t even check if I was a patient or in need of care. Went to another lady to get the water. The original nurse I asked never checked in on me again. Kept multiple patients waiting for hours without any patient contact.

While on holidays from Ontario my 89 year old mother broke two bones in her foot 2 weeks ago.
I cannot say more about the wonderful people who helped us out right from triage to registration, x-rays, nurses, doctor. Absolutely everyone was kind and caring and a special thanks to Franz for being incredibly patient and understanding.
We expected to be there the entire day, but the whole process from the time we entered the hospital to when we left was six hours.
During that time three or four ambulances came in with patients so the time wait was totally understandable.
Again, thank you to everyone at Strathcona Community Hospital. I’m so glad we picked you.😊

When we arrived wait times were estimated at about 4.5 hours, i understand that the wait time is not exact in it.Fluctuates based on what is coming in the door. But at 6 AM almost 7 hours after we arrived. The wait one and a half hours. Well my daughter had been in a bed since the 5 hour mark she was still not seen by a doctor till the 8.75 hour mark. At which point I had already contacted her specialist and and we were making arrangements to go see him. Doctor did zero things for her if she loses what his little sight she has there will be a lawsuit.

A special thank you to Dr. Rempel for being so kind, humble, and compassionate. I’ve never had such a respectful ER visit before. And Nurse Nikkie, thank you for being proactive and caring, you really made sure I was okay. Grateful for both of you!

For all the bad things people say about healthcare I had the best people interacting with me when I went to this hospital. My nurse Kelsey was amazing very nice and attentive made you feel like a person and not a number explained everything! Awesome job Kelsey you’re gonna go far! Dr. Jaime Lee was one of the best doctors I’ve ever seen, Very caring asked a lot of questions gave a lot of answers and lots of attention to Detail! Being sick sucks, but these folks made it as comfortable as possible. Thank you so much, and keep up the amazing work you do!
