I usually don’t write reviews, but my experience at the hospital front desk was really disappointing. The staff member I dealt with was rude and didn’t seem interested in helping at all. I was already stressed being at the hospital, and her attitude made things worse. A little kindness and professionalism can go a long way — I hope the hospital takes this seriously and works on improving the way patients and visitors are treated at the front desk.

I visited the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Hospital due to severe pelvic pain related to PCOD, which had become unbearable over the past few months and even caused me to faint. I arrived at the emergency department at 9:00 PM and was seen at 4:30 AM. I was then asked to return at 8:00 AM for an ultrasound.

Since then, I’ve waited well into the afternoon with little communication. Despite being told multiple times that I’d be seen shortly, no follow-up happened. When I respectfully asked for an estimated wait time or if I could be called when my turn approached, I was met with a surprisingly rude and dismissive response from a staff member.

After nearly 15 hours without food or rest, and enduring significant discomfort, the lack of empathy and basic communication has been deeply disappointing. I understand hospitals can be busy, but compassion should never be overlooked.

The amount of bullying happening inside the hospital is absolutely outrageous! Management clearly prioritizes the agency staff over the hospital employees, showing zero concern for their well-being. It’s infuriating how the agency staff can win them over with expensive gifts and deceitful compliments! Because of this disgusting favouritism, the management relentlessly emotionally harasses the hospital staff, especially in the operating room. It's unacceptable!

I went to the hospital this morning with chest and back pains. Got there about 10am didn't have to wait to long to get assessed. After that they had me wait back in the waiting room rather than in the back to lay on a bed. Everyone before me and after me didn't come back out to the waiting room they must have got to stay in the back with a bed! I waited over 4 hours to get seen, I asked a nurse how much longer I have to wait and she said there were 4 or 5 patients ahead of me. The waiting room was getting full and and I just couldn't stay any longer, it was uncomfortable sitting in those chairs waiting so I left. Not getting seen in emergency is unbelievable!! I really hope that changes and they get more doctors to see the patients that come in.

I am extremely frustrated with the work ethic at this hospital, particularly in the OR department. It’s absolutely unacceptable! The level of work harassment I’ve witnessed there is appalling. It’s hard to believe that such a toxic environment is allowed to persist. This kind of behavior not only undermines the team's morale but can also jeopardize patient care. Something needs to change, and it needs to happen now!

My husband was rushed into surgery with Dr. Poling and his surgical team while we were on our way home from a holiday. I can't say enough amazing things about the staff in the hospital. The ER nurses were amazing to deal with. Thank you Dr. Poling for saving his life.

Accessible, somewhat helpful staff, okay service, some support...

It just sucks that I got sent home after a suicide attempt as a child.
