So far so so good. My mother has bee been here for over a year now and the facility and staff are excellent. My mom is in daily assisted living and she has been happy here. There is a lack of visitor parking so you have to park on a nearby street. There is some at the very front of the building but the entrance to my moms section is at the back of the building. It’s okay. We could go through the front but easier to go to the back entrance. COVID has made access more difficult at times and you always have to wear a mask. The building is clean and well lit. Mom comes to a central dining room for her meals and it works well. I have seen some of the meals and they always smell good and look appetizing, she says she likes her meals. Mom is content with her little room.

My family and I drove in to clean out my Grandmother's condo after she passed, we were rudely turned away. We were not made aware of the move out policy in which you pay $200.00 for a damage deposit. Which is fine but, $100.00 of that is none refundable. Not to mention finding the move out request form. When we finally got it sorted, we were alotted 3 hours to move a lifetime out of a 2 bedroom condo. Very disappointed with this place, epecially with how difficult it was to get ahold of anyone who could help us even find the form.

The vast majority of the staff that provide my Mother with care are excellent. In my experience the staff keep me well informed about how my mother is doing and if any concerns arise. They encourage my Mother to participate in activities but appropriately respect the times that she declines. I have found the staff at the Kensington campus to be very caring, kind and to be very hard working.

Heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of Kensington Good Shepherd Care, Edmonton, for the respectful, compassionate, well-ordered care offered to its residents. My mother's final days were spent amongst knowledgeable staff - both hands on as well as administration - who provided exceptional health wellness and promotion of personal and collective family interests. No matter time of day or night that I arrived, mom was well-dressed, participating as much as her abilities allowed in social activities in bright surroundings. It was a pleasure to see residents being kindly tended to. We each shall some day be vulnerable due to disease, accident or age and must all do our best to preserve love, integrity, ethical consideration, promotion of dignity and comfort of our loved ones who may lack the strong voices they once commanded. Thank you to this wonderful facility for helping maintain values in keeping with genuine care focused on family-centred care principles.

Don't buy your parents a condo here if they are not independent. You will not get any help from the foundation. They do not care about the seniors living in the condos. Going through Covid with a senior Mom with the starting stage of dementia has been a nightmare. Horrible communication with families. Just excuses. Lovely receptionist, home care workers, and volunteer grocery helpers though. Thank God for them because the "higher ups" could care less.

My mom has lived here since 2012 and absolutely loves it.
The staff are all wonderful and everyone says hi to you in the halls.
There are lots of activities to stay active and meet people. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Awful. Do not let the nice look of the place fool you. The care is almost non existent. The staff is non existent.T he management is poor and is selling you snake oil. Food is poor, snacks are small to non existent. Bathroom help is a joke. My mother suffered greatly here and I whole heartedly regret placing her here. I will regret it for the rest of my life. DO NOT place a loved one here....for their peice of mind and your own.

It is one of the better long term care facilities in the city, but you still have to advocate and keep an eye on the care for your loves one.
