Always a welcoming environment for people who most likely feel vulnerable and down on their luck. They have volunteers who are always willing to help explain the process and products available.
It's not a business, so people need to realize that these volunteers should be treated with the utmost respect and admiration for donating their time and efforts. Which they do so in spades.
I highly encourage anyone and everyone who may be in a position to help to do just that. The needs of the Food Bank generally surpass the requirements and request made upon them. Yet they somehow manage to stay above and keep the needy supplied.
It's sad to say that they are sometimes forced to offer perishable items that are almost beyond the requirements, but this the nature of the service.
I hope everyone who does have to go, from whatever country you're originally from, has a positive and welcoming experience there.

I live in Elmwood just off of Lewisville road... Been starving for two days trying to call them. After spamming the phone 5 times one after another they finally answered just to tell me I'm in the area of the food bank that's further away from me. I would have to walk 15 minutes to the second mile... For the place they told me to go to, is 45 minute walk.... Now I have to starve for another two days in hopes the one on mountain road answers me, and if not to call this place again... I'm legit starving myself and all they can do is have me call and leave voice mails over and over again hoping SOMEONE wants to help.. this is my first time ever asking for help from any of these groups.. I am surviving off of peanut butter and all they can say is (can't help you yet). Couldnt even ask for bread without getting cut off... Now there's not enough time to go to the soup Kitchen because I spent half of the time trying to find someone to help me... This city is horrible. I feel like you have to be rude in the city in order to speak. Buddy did not care about my situation.. only wanted to end the phone call.. I tried to atleast ask for bread, couldn't even finish that sentence... So degrading

Very nice staff. Received two large boxes of groceries and personal care products. Nothing expired or damaged. There were vegetables, fruits, dairy products, cheeses, cereals, canned food, juices, eggs, meat, bread, cookies, coffee. I did not expect. To be honest, I am from another country and eat more natural products, so I took some to my neighbors. But it's a big help. Thank you many times

Staff are great! But some clients are just straight up disrespectful and inconsiderate of others!
