What an experience at this St Charles location. We arrived at two or three minutes after six, admittedly, the door was open, and when my niece walked in with bags of items, with me close behind, a woman rudely told us she was no longer accepting items. We were standing at the door with several bags. So as we placed the bags near the door. This very same grumpy woman engaged in a fierce argument with me about leaving the bags. She was extremely rude, dropping the F bomb more than once, and given that she runs her entire business on free donated items, seemed a little unnecessarily aggressive. I hope nobody shops here ever again. These people are making money off of our things that we paid good money for, and are extremely rude as we deliver to them at our expense the free supply chain, which provides their revenue. What a model. And this individual needs a new line of work and therapy.

The person there receiving the donated items didn't look very happy and looked like she wished she was somewhere else.

I just dropped off a number of items and was extremely disappointed with the process. First of all, I completely understand and respect the precautions we need to take for Covid-19. That said, what they are doing here makes no sense. There is a sign at the front saying to put all donations in the bin. There is only one bin and when I arrived it was about half full. I had a number of boxes with very fragile items (clearly identified as such) so I went inside and asked the person working there if I could leave the boxes with the fragile items inside or beside the bin but was told in no uncertain terms they must go in the bin. I also has a couple of bags of clothes with I put in first to try to fill up the bin and protect the fragile items. I then carefully placed the fragile boxes on top of some other boxes on one side of the bin to try and fill up alt least that side of the bin so that no one else would come along and throw in their donations. When I was done, the bin was quite full but there was still some room. A lady came after me to donate some clothes in plastic bags. I explained what I had done with my donations and why and so she placed her bags in front of the bin, contrary to the rules. I fully expect that the items I donated will probably be broken leaving me to feel that I could have just thrown them in the garbage. The items I donated were not junk and, in my opinion, would be much appreciated by others. I left with my fingers crossed that some of the items donated would survive. When I got home and told my wife, she called the store and explained all of our concerns to a person in the store and was told the same thing and not to worry. The person did say that I could have left the fragile items on the side but I was clearly told I could not do this when I dropped the donations off. I normally donate to Nova but they are not accepting donations at this time. In the future, I will not donate to Renaissance again. I will either try to store my donations until Nova is accepting again or simply throw things away, which I am loathe to do.

Love that this place is open at 8. I can drop off my stuff on my way to work. Except when the employee does not show up until 8:15... the reason I go for 8 is so I can put my stuff inside and protect it from the elements. I don't like to have to leave my stuff on the wet sidewalk because the guy is not there yet. Yes I'm giving you my stuff for free, but I still care for it. The person on the other end does not want stuff damaged by the elements because of a careless employee..

Twice recently I have taken items to donate. On both occasions there was a different man working. Neither one of them said a word to me, no hello and no thank you. I found this to be quite rude and ungrateful. I have heard that Renaissance Dorval is quite different.

Nice friendly staff.. place is sometimes full to rafters.. it always amazes me the garbage some folks drop off there.. I mean sometimes an item has simply outlived it s usefulness and it is time to throw it out... I guess those folks are the same ones who donate expired food..
