Left with a head injury and no help. All I wanted to do is recycle some cardboard boxes. I find places like these intimidating just bc I don’t know what I’m doing. It says where to recycle some things on the signs but I couldn’t see cardboard boxes. I asked a guy who I think was pretending not to be able to hear with his ear muffs in. He said open the door I think. That still didn’t answer my question as to what door. I’m from north van and just needed to drop off time cardboard. So I took a guess and climbed the steel ladder and tried to unlock the steel door latch. I pushed it up and it came crashing down on my head. I want expecting it so I guess my head was kinda forward trying to figure out how it worked. I sat on the stairs with both hands cupping my head. I had tears in my eyes and no one stopped to see if I was ok. They looked at me but continued on. After about seven mins another guy did ask if I was ok. I got up and went to close the door to the bin and the latch was stuck on the railing. I tried to wiggle it and ended up pinching my hand and the door flung and hit me in the head again. I’m sitting in my car in the parking lot writing this review as my head pounds and no one could care less as to why I’m still sitting here.

In north van where I live only employees are aloud to open and close the doors between munching down to size. I’m not sure why the same rule doesn’t apply here. What if I was in my 70’s or 80’s would I be expected to climb the metal stairs and open the steel latch and door. Anyways new fear unlocked and I hope I don’t e a black eye in the morning.

Be careful here. No one cares about you.

This review is a little late as this happened. About
four months ago. My experience was horrible. There is a native lady that works behind the counter that it's very horrible rude and just plain awful to talk to. She made my experience very horrible and I'll never go back. I prefer the victoria road one

An employee wouldn’t let me off load some cardboard from my house which was from Costco. Because I have a work vehicle with decals. Which is also my daily driver. I asked to speak to the manager and he ignored me and walked away. Do not come here if you own a business or have decals on your vehicle. Terrible service

I'll give it 3 stars because it's clean and convenient. The staff is just over the top rude. Guy in the warehouse was so rude. Other gentleman yelled at me to put the cardboard in the bin. I get where he was coming from- shame on me for thinking he would finish up and maybe put the items in the bin for me? Nope. Yelled at me. I got back out from my car. He got in my way on purpose. You guys can do way better. That was over the top.

A good place to recycle your recyclables. The parking is spacious makking it easy to park. Very easy to get to as its near Beban. The staf were great and easy to work with. They also have carts to easily sort through your recyclables. Also has a washing station to clean afterwards. All in all great place to recycle.

As a group of parents we did a fundraiser for our kids that made it on to a team for BC Summer Games. We had a fantastic experience with Lindsay, he set us up to have all the supplies needed to do the sorting in our driveway. He then came and picked it all up and was able to give us an idea of how well we did on the spot. Overall and excellent experience, would do this again in our driveway as a team fundraiser, and highly recommend Lindsay and his team!

Had a terrible experience today I had 4 trollies and had no idea that you are allowed 3. The woman at the front desk was upset that I had non alcoholic and beer bottles mixed in. (I apologize for that). She had me to take it back home to sort it again instead of just grabbing out of the bag. Then, I asked for some bags and she literally threw them at me and I was dropping them all over the floor from the money machine to the parking lot. I get they may have some rude customer, but it is not cool to be rude on somebody who is just returning bottles. They should have employees trained to be respectful and helpful than being rude. And don’t be so angry on me having a few alcoholic beverages that were mixed in with the non alcoholic cans. We all make mistakes.

Also, they should get rid of the plexiglass at the front because I can’t hear a word what they are saying to me with all the bottle noises in the background. You can’t bring the bags standing up on the trolly. Because the plexiglass is way too low.

I have used the Nanaimo Bottle Depot for years. They recycle not just bottles but many other items. The staff are very helpful. I have also been involved with a couple of fundraising bottle drives that went very well. The driver Lindsay showed up on time and took the time to explain details and answer all my questions...he was excellent!
