Reflecting on the final days of my dad’s life, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the Red Deer Hospice Society. In that challenging week, they became a true sanctuary for our family. My dad had endured so much pain over the past six months following his diagnosis, and when the doctors made the heart-wrenching decision to stop treatment, we were left feeling lost and uncertain.

But the moment we arrived at the hospice, there was a noticeable shift in his spirit. The warmth and compassion of the staff enveloped us like a comforting embrace. They approached their work with such sincerity and kindness, making us feel cared for in every possible way. It felt as if we were welcomed into a family that understood the profound gravity of what we were going through.

The accommodations were beyond what we could have hoped for. The rooms were not just functional; they were inviting and thoughtfully designed for both comfort and ease. We were grateful for the meals prepared by the kitchen, which nourished our bodies during such an emotionally taxing time. It was these small gestures, from the cozy atmosphere to the delicious food, that made a significant impact on our experience.

What truly stood out was how the staff went above and beyond to ensure my dad was treated with dignity and respect. They listened to his needs, offered gentle support, and created an environment where he could find peace. It’s in moments like these that you realize how important it is to have compassionate care when grappling with the reality of mortality.

From the depths of my heart, I want to extend my sincerest thanks to everyone at the Red Deer Hospice Society. Your love, kindness, and unwavering support made an immeasurable difference during one of the most difficult times in our lives. You not only cared for my dad; you cared for our entire family. Thank you for your compassion and for the beautiful legacy of love you provide to families like ours.

Our family feels the Red Deer Hospice was a gift to us in the last weeks of Dad's life. The comfort, care, kindness and support given to him and all of our family is beyond words to describe. All staff are so gentle and truly caring, and their expertise in managing ending of life, and the emotions that go with it, are amazing. They embraced Mom and encouraged her to stay with Dad overnight and to continue to celebrate the love they shared for 65+ years. Another treasured gift that allowed them to focus on each other, knowing all other needs would be met by hospice staff. The continued support extended by hospice in terms of follow up calls and letters, and the butterfly release ceremony, are appreciated to help us through our grief and to continue to acknowledge the loss we feel. We need more places like Red Deer Hospice, to help people pass peacefully and with respect, and to help families with that process. Our deepest gratitude to them.

It is a really nice well kept building, the staff and volunteers are very helpful and friendly. They treat the patients like family. The food is absolutely delicious! This place should be given 10 stars!! Everything that they do is appreciated
