I called city hall today to discuss why they took another tree down in front of my house. According to the gentleman that I spoke to - if there is any damage from two main branches - they will not trim the damaged part ( caused from the last butcher sent from the city to trim branches) and paint the cut section to save the tree they will only "cut it down". I spoke about what is happening to my yard regarding the 2 -100 year old trees they already cut down in the last few years and how with the roots dying my yard has turned in to a sink hole. He said that was my problem, and then proceeded to make a snide remark regarding " messy bushes on the side of my house." Still not sure what a few bushes have to do with them taking trees down. Port Colborne use to be stunningly beautiful with all its big trees. It was always 5-10 degrees cooler because of them. Now with the cost of utilities on the rise, bad air quality, and Port Colborne cutting down trees - I fear this city will be as hot as other big cities. As soon as I have finished morning the loss of my husband I will be moving from this city. I do not want to live in a heat box with no birds. There was 2 screech owls that use to nest in that tree, not sure where they are now not sure the city even cares. My daughters were born in this home - right upstairs and it will be sad to move but I cant live without trees and I do not have another 100 years to wait for saplings to grow.

I used to live in Port Colborne and there isn't a way of reviewing the whole city, so, here we are. I got 90% of my packages stolen, the neighbors were loud, and ah, a guy a few doors down had a truck with the Confederate flag on it. Crime is high. Lots of street racing that keeps you up until 3am in the summers and things that look an awful lot like gang activity.
I had a pride flag on my backpack once in June and for months after that a truck would follow me around telling me to go off myself and I didn't know who the people in it even were, I'd never met them.
I lived literally five to ten minutes walking from city hall I wasn't even out in the country.
Long story short I moved.

Went to city hall to get a Porticipate Pass.
They would not help me with this and said I need to fill out the online form and come back and pick it up.
What about if someone does not have access to the web or was elderly and had a hard time navigating the online form?
Could they not have helped me fill out the 5 minute online form in person by asking me for my information and submitting the request for me? Not helpful.
