Loved going here with my daughter best place. I loved swimming and the like plenty of friendly kind people and staff they said hello to her made her smile and laugh and that made it a very pleasant time. The pool and the dressing rooms were very clean felt very comfortable using the facilities. Enjoyed the open swim I just find it strange that they don't have like a toddler free swim I really wish there was something like that for the kids so they can make some friends!

Petrolia YMCA is indeed an incredible asset to our community. Serving as a community center, it provides a diverse array of activities and amenities tailored for kids, youth, seniors, and beyond. My experience at the Y has been amazing! The staff is fantastic, always ready to help, and there's such a positive atmosphere for families. What's even better is that they offer numerous no fee program for families in the Petrolia community.

As a frequent visitor to the Petrolia YMCA at 360 Tank Street, I’m basically the unofficial mayor of this fitness paradise, and let me tell you, it’s a riot! This place is perfect for us mere mortals trying to get healthy without dreaming of bulging biceps that could arm-wrestle a bear like Ronnie Coleman.
The gym equipment? So well-maintained it’s like they polish each dumbbell with fairy dust. I swear the treadmills whisper, “You got this, champ!” while I wheeze through my cardio. It’s sparkling clean, too—seriously, you could eat off the gym floor, though I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re into protein shakes with a side of floor wax. The setup’s not for hardcore meatheads chasing Mr. Olympia glory, but for average Joes like me, it’s a dream. Free weights, strength machines, and cardio gear galore—everything works like it’s auditioning for a fitness infomercial.
The staff? They’re so friendly they’d probably high-five a grumpy cat and make it smile. Always ready with a tip or a quip, they make you feel like you’re at a fitness party, not a gym. Total vibe: zero intimidation, 100% “let’s make sweating fun.” The gymnasium is a hoot, too—a massive space where you can dunk basketballs (or at least try), spike volleyballs, or pickleball your way to glory. I once saw a grandma school some teens in pickleball here, and I’m still recovering from the hilarity.
I don’t mess with the pool (swimming’s for fish, right?), but I peeked, and it’s a legit 25-meter lap pool with a cute little therapy pool sidekick. Both look so pristine I half-expected a mermaid to pop up doing aquafit. Add in group classes and that YThrive coaching thing (which sounds cool but I haven’t tried because I’m too busy pretending I’m Rocky on the stair-climber), and you’ve got a community hub that’s basically the lovechild of a gym and a comedy club.
Petrolia YMCA gets a side-splitting 4.5/5 stars from me. It’s the place to get fit, laugh hard, and maybe dodge a flying pickleball. If you’re a local looking for a gym that’s more “cheerful sweat” than “steroid showdown,” this is your spot. Just don’t challenge that grandma to a game—she’s savage.

Party Rental for a children's birthday. Staff was helpful, room was clean when we got there with tables setup. With tge rental we had an hour of gymnasium time with a staff member available to get out basketball net and a ball, hockey sticks and net, and other items for kids play. They provided pizza as well. We brought all the rest of the supplies and food and beverages

Excellent facility. My husband and I use and enjoy both pools. Y staff is friendly and helpful. Lifeguards are great. The building is spacious, clean and has offerings for all members.

This recreation centre in Petrolia, Ontario offers everything from a workout facility to their 75 metre swimming pool as well as a wading pool. The pool temperature is always above 80° F (wading pool above 90°F). Great classes and public swim times. The change room showers need updating but a great facility overall. Prices are reasonable and full memberships are not required in order to use the facilities....
Hopefully this advantage will continue into the future.
