Nous sommes arrivés pendant un rush un samedi soir. Un peu d’attente, mais ça en valait la peine!

La viande est succulente, tout comme les accompagnents. Nous avons beaucoup aimé les baked beans!

Vraiment bon! J’aurais préféré mon steak un peu plus chaud. Un incontournable. Les frites et la salade de chaud aussi bons.

Best southern BBQ around!! What a gem, food is fantastic!! I had the pulled pork sandwich which was really flavorful! My friends had a full rack of ribs, brisket with corn bread and Mac and cheese on the side and they were super pleased with their meals! The coleslaw is some of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere could use a bit of work. There is no background music and lighting is poor. It looked like they recently painted so hopefully the vibe will improve. We waited well over half an hour for our food, other customers that came in and sat down after us got their food faster but also had ribs, so not sure why we waited. The server did apologize for the wait, which was thoughtful. Will definently be back, but recommend ordering to go or calling in advance for takeout.

Preface: In early October 2024, I visited this location around 2 pm, only to be told the smoker was 'broken' and no food could be served. I especially made sure to visit this location in the future, as smokehouse type bbq restaurants are quite scant in the maritimes. Today, I had the opportunity to finally try it.

I parked my vehicle in the closest available parking near the front door. The restaurant is located in a strip mall type setting, and parking is ample.

Upon exiting my vehicle, I find an intact, functioning cell phone. I entered the restaurant and presented the phone to the cashier, telling him I had found it outside. He looks at me and says,'What am I supposed to do with that?' As I presented it to him.

After an awkward exchange, I placed my order. A steak cut brisket, mashed potatoes, and a piece of cornbread, which amounted to 23$.

After a few minutes, my order appeared on a diner tray. The presentation was beyond deceiving and underwhelming. The potatoes were without starch structure and very watery, with a slight bit of garlic flavor. The cornbread was drier than a desert day, and it felt like sandpaper rubbing against the surfaces of my mouth.

The worst, though, was the brisket itself. It was very fatty, and covered with a very acidic bbq sauce, which completely ruined it for me.

As far as the restaurant itself goes, the dinning room consists of picnic tables and a few high chairs by the window. The restaurant is clean, well lit, and the menu is drawn in chalk, lending to it a rustic element. The bathrooms were clean and tidy.

Customer service was cold and indifferent, as described in my initial encounter.

Overall, I personally wouldn't try the menu item I chose. I would perhaps try their other offerings, but as it currently stands, I'm not sure I would go out of my way to visit again. Honestly, with it being the only thing I've consumed today, it's left me quite queasy. I can't directly attribute this to the restaurant or the food itself.

At Our Backyard BBQ, we indulged in the Ultimate Platter, designed to feed 4-6 people, and the generous portions left us with plenty of leftovers. Come hungry, as they serve delicious and ample portions of well-loved meats. Despite not typically being a fan of roasted chicken, I was awed by their perfectly roasted bird with its crunchy, well-seasoned skin and moist meat, elevated by a delightful blueberry apple sauce. The slow-cooked beef brisket, full of flavor and color, and the wooden-smoked half-rack, with its fall-off-the-bone goodness, were equally fantastic. The indoor ambiance, reminiscent of a summer park with wooden picnic tables, chairs, and aromatic wooden cuts, added to the overall experience. A good recommendation by the owner was an added plus, and we will definitely return to try the smoked burger next time. However, the washrooms could use more attention to cleanliness and tidiness.
