Went to the Opportunity Shop yesterday and let’s just say the service was HORRIBLE. Usually we go 2-3 times a week sometimes even 4 times because they always get new things and we always raved about the Opportunity Shop to anyone we’d run into with kids as they have a thing where you can fill a basket for 5$. Our last visit before yesterday’s visit was Saturday so only 2 days apart thats how much we go to this store.

So we were doing our fill the basket for 5$ and I was getting mugs for our place and I was doing a nice gesture of hanging up the hangers on their hanger section so it was left on the racks or they had to take them all off as anytime we've gone there they would tell us to take it off the hangers and collect them and fill the basket as much as possible. So thats what we were doing as we’ve gone there over 15-25 times now since moving here. So she made a comment that I didn't catch right away but it was about leaving the hangers on the items. I just brushed it off and we stopped shopping as we were like umm okay we’ve done this every other time.

We get up to where you pay because we were now finished and she was making a big stink about the hangers even though I helped bring them back and hung them up for them in their return area. We get to checkout and the same lady is complaining that we over filled the basket even though it was levelled to the top of the basket and it clearly states on the sign to fill a basket… To anyone reading this What would you take fill a basket means? So obviously we filled it and she rudely says its not jam pack a basket… its fill a basket…

To that definition both words basically means the same thing. So anyways this volunteer talks with the other lady that takes payment and tells her well should we charge them double since its technically 2 baskets (even though it wasn’t 2) it was 1 basket and she was just not happy that we followed what their sign literally says. Then the cash lady tries to say well the money gets donated to the hospital… Well yes I already know that as thats the whole reason we went to the OP Shop because they donate the money to a great cause and we’ve shopped there many times and even rounded up our payment to donate a little more. The whole point of this review is for the first lady to hopefully change her attitude to people who shopped their consistently and new customers. Based on that 1 interaction from that 1 bad apple is why I'm leaving this review and why we never ever shop there again.

As well want to make it clear it was always encouraged by other volunteers to fill the basket as much as possible and to take the hangers off.. So very disappointed with that one volunteer and hopefully gets an attitude adjustment to people coming to support this place. Will never recommend this place and tell otherwise. It’s unfortunate as well because we were actually shopping for someone that day who's close to us and having a baby.

My favourite store.
If you’re looking for something specific and it’s not there, go back another day. You will eventually find it.
Great selection and great prices.

Lovely people running this store where proceeds go to the local hospital. Many treasures to be found at extremely reasonable prices.

Better known as the OP Shop, this is a popular thrift shop that is always busy. Either you can take your own donation bags to the shop, or do some shopping yourself find some great, hidden treasures for yourself or your home. There is always something new in the shop that you could discover!
Best of all the proceeds of all sales go to the local Arnprior Hospital Foundation.
Every year, my husband and I do some purging of closets and household items. That means donations to the OP Shop or local charities. "Out with the old, and on with the new!"
