While waiting for the Ferry me and my mom visited this small museum. It deals with the local history of the city (and region) and does focus a lot on fishing and local culture. I enjoyed it but it only takes a few hours, or less, to go through.

The Old Sydney Society showed me great hospitality... They asked me if I wanted to enjoy a spot of tea with oatcakes. I did and it was fabulous. Cheerio!

Small and quaint, the staff are excellent and will share their thoughts and knowledge about the community! Fees are by donation and they have a cute gift shop.

Quaint little museum. Entirely donation based. Has a lot of exhibits that touch briefly on a lot of different points of Sydney's history but doesn't really go too in depth on any specific period. All of the items were donated by members of the community. Also syncs up really well with the other museums in the area and the ghost walk

Very cool history and informative. It was a drizzly type of day, but we still enjoyed the architecture and different types of locations to see. Not too long or boring if you enjoy history.

My boyfrend and I came into the Old Sydney Society this afternoon and we were not impressed. As we walked in, none of the workers greeted us, or even picked up their heads. We walked around the building for about 15 minutes and by that time we were so upset so we left. There were 3 workers in the buliding, two out of three of the workers were on their phones. The young man behind the desk did not pick his head up from his phone the entire time. We went in to the museum to ask a few questions we had about an instrument we found, but the workers would not pick their heads up long enough to get their attention. My boyfriend and I are both locals and we were very angry, I couldn't imagine coming here from a different country and getting that kind of bad hospitality.
