This is definitely a hidden gem in the city! I went to the Laft Hus Festival for the first time this summer and ended up spending hours there. They had goats grazing on the roof, fjord horses, Norwegian dancing, art and culture booths, local vendors and food trucks, and a chainsaw-only wood carver who could create masterpieces in under an hour. The viking combat was hilarious, and all of the children present loved it. Thank you all for your dedication, and I am looking forward to coming back to the festival every year!

A great place to spend some time in the city without leaving the city.

Plenty of artifacts in the museum and friendly operators make this an easy locale to appreciate even with the children.

On the right day you can see goats trimming the roof and several events are held here throughout the year.

Makes for a great afternoon especially when the events are taking place.

If you're Norwegian in heritage and are curious about Norway's culture be sure to stop by it is the most centralized Norwegian culture locale in Central Alberta.

Also lots of nice handmade items for sale in the gift shop.

Truly an extraordinary hidden gem. Unique Norwegian building filled with cultural arts and craft goods. Beautiful inside and out. I was lucky to visit when they were open and the friendly staff allowed me to walk around to see everything.

Amazing Norwegian house/museum. A grass roof too, with goats running around on it today. So much colorful history. One old travel trunk upstairs was of special interest... it has travelled to so many places in the world, been on many continents, over many oceans including the Mediterranean and Red Sea.... and it started in Norway and many owners later has 'landed' in Red Deer! If only a trunk could talk 🤔
