Admitted Thus for a lesser toe amputation. Wow the staff from Admission to pre surgery and post surgery were Great. They all were caring and easy to talk with and good sense of humour. Warm blankets and hot coffee coming out of general anesthetic . The job is not easy for this professional staff and I was proud of them and our Hospital. Thanks Ken

the woman at the front desk was incredibly rude as was the nurse from day surgery after care. i dont expect rudeness and condescension but that is exactly what I received. as civilians we are expected to treat all hospital staff with respect. Evidently hospital staff need not show the same courtesy.

12:30 noon Took time off work to go in to Imaging with an xray requisition from Rocket Doctor (I had asked for an MRI after 29 years of lower back problems). Imaging couldn’t accept it because of missing information (doctor surname, billing number and history/reason for xray). With so much missing information it was really hard not to feel like it hadn’t been filled out incompletely on purpose. Ok, well that definitely broke me a bit, but the intake person kindly tried to help and suggested I go to Emergency since of course I don’t have a family doctor after two years in this town.

Sat in Emergency Reception an hour or so, then got admitted inside and waited a couple more hours, when I saw the Emergency doctor I again asked for an MRI. She kindly got me a new and complete xray requisition, told me I shouldn’t be afraid to take some Advil or Tylenol and I really needed a plan if there was nothing found in the xray. Yes I agree, that would be great to know what to do.

4:30 pm went back to Imaging, got the xray, tech was very kind, said the Emergency doctor is still here, go back and get your results. Ok great, I really want some answers!

Sat in Emergency reception a half hour before the receptionist spoke to me, somehow they thought I was waiting for a ride? Not sure why, they were not the same people that had been there earlier. Anyway, the Intake nurse finally calls me up, to be fair he had been dealing with an incoming ambulance, ok. Says oh you were discharged, I explained I hadn’t been told that, I had been sent and had gotten the xray and then been sent back to get results. He says oh, ok I will just reactivate you, go on back inside to the waiting area and wait.

Sat there 4 more hours, people coming and going, lots of bad stuff happening to people, I figure ok they are having worse days than me, I just need to be patient as they are triaging and it looked like a different doctor was calling people in now. Until my husband came to see me after work and messaged to say where was I, they didn’t have me in the system? What now?!

I hobbled out to Reception and asked the mortified receptionist if they didn’t even know I was there? She checked the screen, nope. She went inside to check, returned with a super abrupt nurse who came out to tell us there was nothing new on my xray (which apparently means it didn’t show what the emergency doctor had thought it might, whatever that was), and the doctor hadn’t expected me back. I explained that I had been reactivated and directed to sit several hours ago. Oh wow they did not know how that happened.

She said I now need to call this Urgent Care number early in the morning to try to make a same day appointment with a doctor to … get this … ask for an MRI. Oh and I already had that card and had been staring at a sandwich board with the same contact info on it for hours already.

9:20 pm left to go home. Super, thanks everyone, great team effort and my back feels so amazing!! I’m so optimistic you have no idea.

Simply cannot wait to make an appointment with Urgent Care to request an MRI. And have them recommend that I really make a plan to start feeling better, maybe have some physio and take some Advil. Calling it now, maybe it will help my sanity later so I can laugh instead of crying.

This hospital is absolute RACIST who towards Muslims, blacks and anyone who is not white, the staff was rude and had a horrible attitude when talking to my Muslim friend for nothing but was but was highly kind to white people. They literally made my friend sit in the back of the behind the glass away from the white people, then when he confronted them, they send him to sit on the floor beside the garbage can. They separated us and giving him looks snares, and making fun of him. When he respectfully confronted the lady at the desk, she asked us to leave and they sent SECURITY ON HIM AND THEY WHERE ASSAULTING HIM!

I came in on a Saturday night with a busted finger. I was greeted with helpful staff, humorous staff (ya you cheeky nurse up front in OR scrubs & hat), pleasant staff (porters x 2, the x-ray tech, Dr H with the goatee) and I was in and out in 2.5 hours. Decent! Add in the call back while I was in the parking lot and it was 2 hr 45 min. I was so impressed with the efficiency and the overall experience.
This is a normal wait time folks, a decent wait time, an excellent turn around .. anyone expecting any less in terms of time spent needs to look around. There is no hour visit to the emergency department. Treating an emergent situation IN A HOSPITAL requires triage (meaning yes, you get bumped for more emergent situations) and it does t happen in an hour.

I came to the hospital on several occasions, wether for my son's small surgery, for my pregnancy follow up and delivery or recently a pneumonia, and I was always happy with the care I received! Everyone is very nice, from the staff pushing the wheelchairs, to technicians, nurses and doctors, everyone is doing their best to make you comfortable. Big shout out to the maternity clinic for my pregnancy follow up and the whole labor and delivery team who helped me bring my second son safely to this world 😊

I had a bike accident and split open my elbow. The resident Dr was extremely inexperienced and didn’t properly clean the wound, then I think I was her first patient she’s ever stitched. That was Friday night. By Sunday a RAGING INFECTION. I am currently being treated in Victoria at the hospital-a week long treatment of IV antibiotics, the stitches needed to be removed , I may require surgery .If you need stitches in Campbell River make sure they don’t stitch a wound unless it is thoroughly cleaned and sterilized and you should be prescribed an antibiotic.
As a patient, you MUST speak up for yourself. Don’t trust inexperience.
