Strange experience in the library. I walked in at 9:00 A.M. to study and was told I had to leave because the library wasn’t open yet. The doors were open and I think 9:00 A.M. is during business hours (I waited until it was open).

When I went to use the adult or U-washroom, I put the toilet seat up to reduce possible splash on the seat which is normal for me to do. The seat instantly fell back down. Normally, I don’t hold the seat up with one hand while I urinate so the seat kept falling back down as I was trying to use the toilet. Suddenly, someone knocked on the door to ask if I was alright and if theres a problem. I said I can show you the problem if you’d like as the knock was kind of aggressive. It was the library CEO and she wasn’t happy that I pointed out that the seat doesn’t stay up. She then accused me of using the children’s washroom and told me I cannot use the library’s washrooms anymore. When I asked what am I supposed to do, she said I have to use the arena’s washrooms.

I asked the librarian about this incident over email. They responded to my first email asking about general washroom policies but then when I gave her the exact details of my question, including the information above, the CEO stopped responding.

Just seems wrong to accuse me of using the children’s washroom when security camera footage would obviously show that’s incorrect, especially given that the CEO herself knocked on the door (there’s a U which I think means universal). I guess universal does technically include children but does not explicitly mean children. Weird!

Looks like a great new facility but it’s giving cold and uninviting like so industrial and institutional.

Would be really cool if local artists could get involved and make it more vibrant and interesting.

Impressive. I just hope the town can afford it. The current tax hike of over 9% mentioned it was due to the assumption of the center. News articles last year noted Bracebridge is now one of the most indebted municipalities in Ontario after this $78 million dollar center.

This is a great Facility it does have the advantage of being brand spanking new , but all in all the facility has a great rink and seating capacity for easy viewing. A great new gym with many activities and an outstanding library for all ages.

Absolutely terrible experience went in to watch hockey practice with my friend and we went to use the washroom and there were two men in the bathroom cleaning Spraying chemicals on the mirror and on the floors and when we came out of using the washroom a very rude women was waiting outside of the bathroom and accused us of vaping because we are teenagers and she said she was informed it “smelt like chemical” right after the two men were using chemicals to clean! I then had to proceed to empty my pockets to then show them I only had my keys and cash on me. Absolutely disgusting stereotyping teenagers! Do better!!
