Had a door-to-door employee come today. She was pretty friendly but I was in a rush to leave my house and I feel like she tried to take advantage of that. She asked for a donation, which I was willing but explained to me that I had to sign up for the monthly donation. I said I’m willing to do a one time donation and she said ok but then proceeded to go through with the monthly option.

It seems sketchy to call for confirmation of my credit card, I had no idea if it was legit or not so ultimately, I decided to withdraw my donation. She was using her personal phone and called a contact that said “March of Dimes” She pleaded with me saying she will not get paid if I decide to do the donation myself online rather than through her. That was a major red flag to me.

I looked on the website and actually it does line up with what she said except for the “not getting paid if I don’t donate” via her.

Also having people have to agree to making a monthly, repetitive payment as the only way to put forward a donation seems like a red flag as well. They’re counting on people forgetting to unsubscribe so they can collect more money.

Should look into changing the approach if the goal is raise money for a good cause.

Apparently door to door representatives cannot read NO SOLICITING sign on my front door. Nobody wants your random visits, leave us alone at home.
