I was here today because of an eye infection. The nurses were attentive and caring. Considering how demanding their job is I don’t know how they manage to act so pleasant and sweet. The wait was long but they were so busy. The doctor who checked me (Dr. Warren) was so kind and friendly. Thank you for helping me.

I have never been so disappointed in a medical facility as this one. Grandson went in a week ago today with hole in lung that had filled up his diaphragm with air had to have a chest tube placed to deal with it and required daily visits until they decided it needed surgery. Third visit they didn't do rebabdaging required nor the did they use required paste to stop air leaking. They placed it back too high on his chest to drain fluids as well. 8th day they saw him in morning and turned off the valve and wait 6hrs to see how he would make out. he sat in emergency for 9hrs until he had to leave or he had no way home. They called to ask why he left this morning lol. We got him back to hospital today only once again to sit and and sit and sit. I call get the brush she says tell him to go back to triage. Really and start from the bottom again. I tell her he's in a lit of pain and discomfort might as well have talked to a bucket of mud. He was 5th in line when he got there at 2pm it's now 8:30 pm and no change. Toatal indifference seems to be how they operate. He's getting worse the longer he sits. No one answering phones now. Time to write a letter to Ministry of Health and copy to the Hospital Admin. They will keep until it's to late to get him a ride home. But oh well.

I want to give a special shout out to the team in the chemo unit. Trudy, Jordan, Ashley and Kayla are amazing nurses that show respect and compassion to all their patients. No matter how busy they are, they work as a team and support each other to provide the best care possible to their patients. Thank you for your amazing work. You all made a difficult time less so by your caring attitudes.

My experience of Napanee hospital, is not a good review of the nurses.
I arrived at 6am because my health and pain needed me to see a dr. After sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours, there were four people taken in. That left 2 before me and whichever emergency came in, understandable. By nearly 10am my name was called. I went into emergency and had to sit in a chair marked D, there were 2 chairs so an older guy was told to sit in that chair. Now sitting and waiting, not one nurse asked either of us if we needed anything.. This man eventually got up and left. I stayed because I really needed answers.
I had not eaten since the night before,, so at about 11-30 I asked a nurse if there was anyway I could have a drink and a small snack. She looked at me like I was a begger, but did go find me a drink of water and 2 small cookies. I was waiting as I thought to go into a cubical as a few people had left and the had been cleaned and changed. Wrong thought, the dr came and talked to me in the chair in the corridor. Now everyone knows why you are there. I was not really happy with that situation, but the drs were running round like crazy and were really busy. The dr ordered some tests to be done and a blood draw, which really happened quickly. So I would say by 1pm what was asked was done. Now just waiting on radiology reading to be put through and I can find out whats wrong.
Nurses were just passing us in the chairs like we were invisible.
Hello, Im a patient right now, Im sat right behind you at your computer in pain, you could at least ask if Im ok, would i like a drink, or even a warm blanket, as the chair is positioned right under the air conditioner and I was really cold.
I asked the nurse politely as it was now around 1-30pm if there was anyway I could have a hot drink. As i truly cold on the inside. I was told they don't do hot drinks. I told her I was cold and she said Ill see what I can find. After that she just walked passed and again I was invisible.
I could hear the drs right behind diagnosing patients and I knew exactly what at least 5 patients diagnoses were.
The dr that treated me, I asked if there was anyway report had come through yet. The dr said that they had been refreshing there screen but nothing back yet.
Finally at about 3pm the report came in. At 3-15pm I was given the news of what was happening and needed another test another day. As at weekends there is no one there to do the exam/test.
Thats good news, now I can move forward with insight of my health problem. But my argument is, if there is not a bed to have don’t think that patient is happy to sit in a corridor invisible to the nurses, with no bedside manner or even a smile for you. Its disgusting. I was a nurse for 25 years in other facilities and never ignored anyone.
I think the nurses need training on politeness and remember, because a person does not look ill or does not represent the norm of what they expect. Never judge a book by its cover.
I think the hospital as a whole is old and needs some well spent money to upgrade.
So my total visit was 9 hours with a glass of water and a cookie I had to ask for. Not nice!

Came in April 24 2025 to emergency to get checked for a possible blood clot. Was checked in around 12:30 pm, seen dr approximately 6 hrs later. Then was told ultrasound technicians left at 3:30, and I have to come back the next day to get the ultrasound done. Had the ultrasound done the back to emergency for them to give me the results. 4& 1/2 hours later and I still haven’t seen anyone. I guess this is done so they can charge OHIP twice. Completely unacceptable.

On our annual fishing trip to Bay of Quinte, I didn't think I needed sunscreen (cuz I'm stupid). I was in emerge overnight on June 7th and got my blistered legs/feet taken care of. Was very impressed with the doctor and the nurses, and couldn't have received any better care anywhere.

Was such a better experience than what we had at KGH in Kingston. The nurses were much nicer, and more kind to us. It took less time to get in to see a doctor in the ER. We got there fairly early so it was roughly around a 2 hour wait (altogether). The doctor was kind to us, got my grandfather the antibiotics he needed, and even lined him up with a doctor there for his many health problems he has. We are very grateful, as KGH wouldn't even see my grandfather, despite him waiting 8 hours in the ER. He could have lost his foot! But the doctor here got him everything he needed and his foot looks much better now!
