Durham Region Cancer Center in the Oshawa Hospital is run like a well-oiled machine, very professional, resourceful, educated, and so helpful in all areas. Special shout-out to the Chemo nurses (Andrea, Sam, Julie) and my oncologist Dr Rothenstein and his nurse Julie, Raffi, in the blood lab!

This hospital has growing overtime and I am pleased to say that it is done very well in a community and surrounding area. The staff that work here are excellent well trained and experienced professionals. They have a terrific cafeteria for all your dining needs gift shops little kiosks here and there to make your visit more pleasurable they do have a parking garage and off site parking. The overall place has been updated and very trendy

Snowballs In July

This is the worst hospital I have ever been in.

There is a shocking apathy toward patient care on the surgical recovery floor.

I spent a few days in critical care and the nurses.were amazing. When I was moved to the surgical ward, the nursing was so inept my surgeon sent critical care nurses to check on my progress twice a day.

It is scary to know that even the doctors that work in the hospital realize that there is a need for nursing care that falls in between the nurses in critical care and the surgical ward.

I checked myself out 2 days early against medical advice.

This visit a 5* rating is completely warranted. I brought my boyfriend to an appointment and although we arrived a bit late, he was called in right away. I observed kind, courteous staff helping direct people who didn't know how to get where they needed to be. Once he returned to meet me in the waiting room, he said the staff was very professional and friendly.

Unfortunately, I had to take my mother into the hospital by ambulance while I was visiting her. The emergency room deserves 5 Stars. They were friendly, they knew what to look for, and they were very informative and helpful to me, as I was worried very much about my mother. The next day my mother was transferred to Observations. My mother had pneumonia. She is also a late-stage dementia patient. The staff in Observations had no idea how to deal with a person with dementia. When I came back before 8 a.m., after her second day in that area the nurse refused to come into the room, refused to check her vitals, refused to even come in and give her her medication. She handed medication to me at the door which I administered to her myself. The doctor came in and dismissed my mother without even checking vitals or anything else, the next day her PSW, while bathing her, found all of the IV needles still intact in my mother's arm. This hospital is a place I would not want to take my dog. Thank goodness I don't live In that area of Canada.

We consistently have great experiences at Lakeridge. The ER department is always on top of prioritizing the needs of our toddler. We've been admitted to pediatrics many times and I have amazingly things to say about the nurses. We also spent a month in the NICU and are forever thankful for the care we received.
