A few weeks back my mom was rushed to emergency. She was having trouble breathing and other issues. I was getting info second hand through family but it sounded quite serious. As I was supposed to leave the country in less than 2 days, I needed to know exactly what was going on so I called the hospital.

I was quickly connected to a nurse (Taylor, I believe) who was working that wing and had recently seen my mom. She was very patient and understood my situation. She put me on hold to get the charge nurse so I could get better info. When that nurse came on she was very kind but before she could say much the first nurse came back saying she had just spoke to the doctor overseeing my mom. Before long I had a very good understanding of what was going on with my mom, what was being done and the likelihood of recovery. I was able to go on my work trip and within a few days my mom was back home with family.

The efficiency and kindness of the staff at the Lacombe Hospital was very helpful during a tough time for me and my family.

I went in after being told to go to the hospital by my walk-in. I had been on light antibiotics for a month because of a sinus infection. I came in for something different- scalp pain, a numb & tingly face on the right side & a blown eardrum. The walk in doctor knew it was not related to the eardrum but the nurses I saw name Kira? & Renee were awful and dismissed it as pain from my ear. Kira should not even be back there as it seemed like I knew more than she did about her own job. Renee prescribed me a high dose of antibiotics that shocked my immune system. Turns out I had shingles which the Red Deer hospital properly diagnosed the next day. Renee dismissed it and then sent me home with a prescription that made me flare up with some of the worst blistering rashes.
Renee and Kira put me in a lot of pain because they could not do their job.
Not to mention- Last month Dr. Tyler had dismissed me as being constipated and sent me home, I later figured out thanks to the Red Deer hospital AGAIN, I have ovarian cysts…
Do NOT waste your time here. All of the nurses are quite snobby and act like you're a burden or less than. The only good doctor here is Dr. Beever.

The staff here are so rude. ER is not done by priority. And when you call back for info you are treated like an inconvenience. "Why didn't you listen to the doctor when he told you!" I'm sorry I wasn't there when my husband went in with his thumb crushed and falling off his hand and he didn't comprehend everything at the time.(this was after a 5 hour wait in ER while people with bumps and scraps got seen before him) She doesn't even ask his name or look up his file. Just tells me the doctor who was on that night and to call HIS clinic to see if they can help me. Which was not the doctor who saw my husband in the ER after calling around for half a day. She wasn't even trying to help. She didn't even want to help. All they did was bandage him up and send in a perception for antibiotics. And said wait for a referral. Sure we'll just sit here waiting for the phone to ring with a disintegrated thumb, no pain pills, and no info as to treat this thumb or who is going to fix it in the mean time

I know wait times can be brutal here at times but this weekend ( im a single father ) I had an emergency with my daughter. They acted so quickly and professionally as they were dealing with her they noticed myself starting to not do well due to my diabetes and was extremely quick to start offering help. They were all friendly in all departments nurses, doctors, blood techs, and x-ray techs and ambulance crew did such an amazing job. With the ambulance crew even getting me a much needed snack after the transfer was complete as my sugars were not headed in a right direction. I’m glad to be able to receive this type of care and treatment with in our community.

I have heart stents, I’m new to Lacombe, this is my third time in this hospital and I’m impressed with the staff, always friendly and welcoming. I hope one day the government sees fit to rebuild the hospital in Lacombe, it’s definitely needed.

My experience is in direct opposition to many of the reviews of others, many seem to think that they are a priority lol, I’m glad trained staff makes the decision on who’s seen and when, not the complainers who all give 1 review, entitled much

My gf came in by ambulance and she was fine for a little bit but people came in and got seen almost immediately. The staff lacks any ounce of bedside manners and have no respect. We’ve been waiting for hours and we still haven’t been seen. If I had the power, I would tear this hospital and it’s staff. This is a warning for anyone, go anywhere else.

Absolute trash. 4 hour wait time with a constant crying sick one year old little girl. Doctor had zero respect or concern for how she treated my daughter. Couldn’t give her meds because apparently it had been too recent. People that came in way after us got to see doctor first. Big fat joke
