Don’t expect service at the meat counter. Ordered veal with bone, picked a piece that was 5.83LB. asked for it to be cut in cubes, to keep the fat and no trimming done at all. Waited 15 mins and got a bag and asked the guy to weigh it, it came back as 5 LB on the dot. When I asked why that is the guy said. This is the weight after the “cleaning” whatever that means. I just took the bag and paid and walked out. This has happened to me 5-6 times already at this location. If this happens once or twice I can over look it as mistake as they are busy and mistakes can happen but when it happens this many time then it is done purposefully which is extremely unethical or the employees are careless. Either way it’s not a good look. Today was the last straw for me even though I live walking distance from this location I will never come back to this place and will make sure to tell everyone I know who buys meat here what you guys are doing. Very disappointing.

Been there few times and it’s a decent place for South Asian groceries. It’s not a huge store but they have done their best to get everything us shoppers need. Took few photos and videos, take a look. Only complaint is the parking, it’s not that great to get in and out.

This place is great for meat, especially goat. However, the customer service and meat section are horrible. It really depends on who cuts your meat. Most of them don’t know how to patiently listen to what you’re asking for, they just cut the way they want. They’re always pushing you to buy more. For example, if you ask for 3 pounds, they’ll give you 4 pounds instead. The worst part is, in the name of cleaning, they get rid of so much meat. When you weigh after cleaning, you almost lose 25%.

Please do not shop here the reason is all the fruits vegetables are addle and not usable. They pack them and they are looking good from outside but inside it’s all in bad and smells. It’s my second time happening with me this month that I go here for buying groceries and halal meat and in both times I am having the same issue. Even in meat section there is too much issues. In short it’s like a scam how they are doing business. Worst of all if someone wants to complain no one is listening. It’s not pomegranate the okra is also not eatable I garbage them. Beware when you want to go here.

I recently visited Iqbal Halal Food in Ajax and was disappointed by a couple of key issues that reflect poorly on transparency and hygiene.

Firstly, there was a noticeable price discrepancy between signage and what was charged at the counter. The flowers were clearly marked $2.99 each, yet I was charged $3.99 when checking out. When I raised the issue, it wasn’t addressed properly, which left me feeling misled. Consistency in pricing is essential for building trust with customers.

Secondly, the butchery section raises serious hygiene concerns. There appears to be significant cross-contamination, with different types of meat and poultry being handled together without clear separation. This is not only concerning from a food safety perspective but also unacceptable in a halal-certified environment where strict separation of meats is expected.

I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and implements better hygiene protocols and pricing accuracy. Until then, I would advise shoppers to double-check prices and be cautious about the meat section.

I saw on the website that they had globe grapes and seeded grapes. So I called, and a lady confirmed they had globe and seeded grapes. In fact she said they have them in red and green. So i proceeded to drive 45 minutes to the store just to be told they don’t have them and they only have seedless grapes. Wasted my time and gas.

I’d like to share my recent experience with Iqbal Foods, where I’ve been a loyal customer, especially for their high-quality meat. They recently had a sale on frozen lamb, and I purchased a shoulder cut. However, my experience this time was deeply disappointing.

Upon opening the package at home, I discovered it was mostly fat with very little meat far from what I expected, especially given the cost of lamb, even on sale. As customers, we trust the quality and integrity of the products we purchase, particularly from a store we rely on. This situation was disheartening because we pay for these products, and it’s only fair to expect good quality in return.

To my brothers and sisters, I recommend checking your meat before taking it home. While we understand it’s hard to inspect freshly cut meat on the spot, trust should not be taken for granted. I hope Iqbal Foods addresses this issue and maintains the quality that has earned them the trust of their customers.
