Our 7 year old T1D has been so excited to get to return to ICD camp this year, meet back up with her buddies from last year and to reconnect with the wonderful & caring leaders. We've been able to attend other events put on by ICD during the year and had a great time meeting other families and T1Ds out for hikes or climbing events. It has been amazing to see the growth in her from watching older kids and teens manage their type 1 and talk strategies with people who get it.

ICD has given our family the confidence to take on any adventure. Not just our daughter with T1D but all of us. They include family and friends, because T1D doesn't just affect the diabetic. We have enjoy many events from Parkour to Basketball to Sports Camps to hikes. Our favourite adventure was camping at Flower Pot islands. As the kids get older they look forward to big adventures either on the French River or the West Coast trail. Thank you ICD!

I have posted this before but worth repeating. We connected my grandson with ICD when he was 14. (Diagnosed at 13) A short time later we took him to see his counselor and she asked in amazement what we had done She said he looks happier, confident, looks her in the eye.. I will be forever grateful. He went on adventures (west coast trail, tobermory, sports teams...

As an immigrant with type 1 Diabetes, new to Canada it took me a while to find a Community that actually cared about me and where I felt truly supported and not judged about my Diabetes experiences or lack of knowledge, and that’s exactly what I found at ICD retreats and families events

As a mother of a T1 athletic teen - I am so very grateful for the education, community, challenges and leadership opportunities that ICD provides for our child and whole family. They have increased the quality of life for our child by expanding & encouraging further accountability with their disease, all the while showing and allowing them to stretch their physical capabilities.

Every event we have attended is so much fun. My son t1d and his brother who is not a t1d have been attending sports camp for 2 years. They have an absolute blast. I can drop my son off and know her is in safe hands and his diabetes is well managed. Chris did a virtual Diabuddies meeting with my sons class last school year and it was fantastic. I am hoping to have him come in person this year. We will continue to attend ICD events and camps and I hope that one day my son will attend camp leader.

Love what they do for young kids and families learning and experiencing the challenges of living with diabetes and everything these kids can still do and how to be in control of their diabetes.
