I had surgery done and needed to get my stitches removed. I called this clinic and told them I do not have a family doctor, but need to get stitches removed. They told me that it would not be a problem to just show up between 10am and 2pm. I get there go to the reception to check in and I am told that because I don’t have a family doctor there it’s not possible for me to be seen by the nurse. As a Canadian citizen who contributes highly to society and have been on a wait list for 4 years to get a family doctor, I must say that I am deeply concerned to not be able to get the care that I need. Would not recommend this clinic. The woman telling me I can’t get in had 0 empathy and should not be doing this job.

I, like so many, have been de-rostered from the Group Health Centre. Since this time, there has been a lot of media activity/information and frankly, I've lost track of things. Trying to be proactive, I called to see where things stood for me in terms of getting a doctor and/or how to get access to services. On my first attempt, a gentleman made an excellent effort to explain things to me but truthfully he wasn't very clear. He eventually said why don't I transfer you to the enrollment/referral dept. Sounds wonderful! I was transferred and I left a detailed message. Two weeks later, I heard nothing back. Unfortunately I called again. This time the receptionist was unbelievable rude and not coherent. She would completely overtalk me during my questions and mid sentence she told me she doesn't get paid enough for this and transferred me to another phone line, which wasn't answered. I was patient and polite. I can fully appreciate that staff are feeling overwhelmed but this complete lack of professionalism and rudeness is not acceptable nor beneficial for anyone.

I must give Lesley K who did my recent ultrasounds on a painful left elbow, wrist, and forearm on January 16th & 17th 2025, was thee most compassionate, gentle and professional technician I have ever dealt with. I have had many, and feel she went above and beyond with my testing and handling. This was maybe the 1st or 2nd time meeting and having her complete the ultrasounds at the GHC .
Thank you immensely Lesley K! The world needs more like you!!

I would also like to add that every appointment I have had at the Group Health Centre has been a pleasant experience.

Absolutely awful. If you value a healthcare professional that’ll actually help you don’t go here.i had started a medication that made me vomit blood and when I went in to see my nurse about it she acted all pissy and rude that I, her patient, dared to be upset and worried about vomitting blood.

Always have had caring staff when going in for my appointments. And have enjoyed their decorations but this Christmas is top notch!! Absolutely fantastic job everyone it looks amazing 😀

guy at the front desk didn't know how referrals work. I've been accepted for general surgery and the front desk guy said I wasn't In the system because I had no family doctor there and didn't transfer me to general surgeries. of course I don't have a doctor there. That's how a referral works to get the right doctor that specializes In right field. Mine doesn't do that.

edit*Got through to general surgeries and was In the system for surgery but no scheduled date. The girl on the other line was very short with me, Tried to hangup mid-sentence. Not a fan of these receptionists. like where do they have to go to? back on their phone, while finishing their shift?

Extremely difficult to get to see a doctor. When you call and your told your Dr has no appointments available, they tell you to call the next day for same day. You do so they tell you a message will be sent to the nurse. Too much power is given to those nurses, if they don't like you, no appointment. And the ones booking the appointments have no business asking why you need to see your family dr.
