I got in the wrong crowd here, yes they were cool to hang with and I miss them something wicked (u know who u r), but none of them had plans for the future, which caused me to with draw from them and do my own thing, if i hadn't done this I would have never broken free, from substance use

If you are planning on staying here, do the program right, don't get involved with the drug users who have no plans for the future

U may see them go into k holes or od on heroin which is scary

also, watch your back, for it can be dangerous at times, someone stole my alarm clock and i had to take it back from them and also my friends jacket was stolen and he had to take it back as well my food was also stolen from my window sill and i had to take it back, so ya, watch your back, be ready to fight if u have too

try to become friends with the leader of the place for protection

i wish had done the program right, but my demons took over i got discharged and couldn't finish the program. but it was the start of a new life for me

I am proud to say I have been sober 10 plus yrs now!
And now I am participating in queen west art crawl this weekend!

They treat their residents like absolute garbage. My friend had a bunch of her stuff stolen, which caused her to not be able to make meals for over a month and since she’s in a shelter she doesn’t have a lot of money so she lost 15 lbs and had to starve herself. She took a couple of things as retaliation and was told she’s getting kicked out because of it They don’t offer food that suits her dietary needs, with staff even suggesting that she eats food that can put her in the hospital. How come you don’t care about your residents who stole who are white? Them and the staff continuously disrespect her mental and physical health, they should be ashamed. There’s no space in the fridge, half of the residents don’t do their chores and then the staff have the absolute audacity to go and treat her like she doesn’t matter, that what she feels and says doesn’t matter. What a backwards shelter. You should all feel absolutely disgusted with yourself but I hope you sleep peacefully at night knowing you let these homeless people suffer.

I was homeless for over a year, multiple shelters did nothing for me, but Phoenix got me out of the streets for good. They teach you to cook, budget, do taxes, everything important that high school decided wasn't important. I have a job and an apartment now, life is way better thanks to them, their print shop training program, their construction program, and their YSEP program are the most helpful job programs in Toronto. I've tried other job programs but nothing was as affective as Eva's Phoenix.

Went there today to get contact information so i can maybe get involved. Maybe have a event with youth like a hockey game, maybe a dinner for all the youth somewhere, was also looking into giving a large donation. Even getting some business cards done for my trucking business. Maybe even promotional material for the restaurant i plan on opening. The guy was like what do you want. Not very inviting at all. Was given a business card that was all scratched out so they could write the name and number for the person im supposed to call. Trued calling that and her cell no answer. Tried emailing and yet no response.
