Main review:
I have had many awful things happen to me at this school. It has played a BIG part in lifetime trauma. I was there from Kindergarten to grade 8, then grade 11. I REALLY hope they don’t still do the ‘buddy’ program in elementary school. If you ever read this, past ‘buddy’, you filled my life with inexplicable, extreme trauma. I’m long out of high school now, but it’s worth sharing. I came out of here with a Generalized anxiety disorder and treatment resistant depression. That should say something.

Editing to add: One of the teachers, and the Secretary of the school at the time, accused me of sending and receiving nude pictures in the middle of class, in front of EVERYONE. I was merely playing a game on my phone because it was an extra studies class to finish homework, which I had all finished. It was VERY embarrassing. Why would the first thing you think of when seeing a kid on his phone, at his desk, be that he’s receiving and SENDING nudes, IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS?! Did you accuse anyone else of this? That’s a DARK place for the mind to go to when I was simply on my phone at my desk. How would it have even been possible? And why literally SHOUT it out in front of the WHOLE CLASS?!

I had to call my Mom to come pick me up. Yes, the teacher did apologize, but after multiple weeks, and complaints from my parents and I. The secretary never did apologize. She added to the accusations because she heard the teacher (from all the way down the hall; so how many other people heard) what I ‘apparently’ was doing. So she stepped in and added to the accusations without even knowing what was going on. I have GAD, and I had to leave because it brought on an EXTREME panic attack.

Any teacher picking on a kid who gets mostly straight A’s and a couple B’s in the way he did was humiliating. It doesn’t even matter what grades I got. No student should EVER be treated that way, Mr. Smith. I really hope you don’t still work here. That hurt me deep. I hope you read this.

And yet, it doesn’t even come anywhere remotely close to the worst thing that’s happened to me here. But I can’t go into detail about those multiple incidents publicly.

Editing to add again: Mr. Miller is the best high school teacher ever. He and Mr. Rae when he still worked there were the best teachers ever. So I will say Mr. Miller is a great teacher and this review in no way reflects on him. He’s amazing. MILLLLLEERRRRR!!!! 😝

I grew up going to this school and as I look back on my experience now I have to say it was fantastic! I went from Kindergarten to Grade 9, and I always had great teachers. The Bible-centred teaching gave me a great foundation before I went to a secular, private school from Grade 10-12. I have been out of high school for several years now, but I think back on my experiences at this school often. The memories I made, particularly in elementary school, will certainly stay with me for the rest of my life. Thankful for DCS!
