DANGER! NO PUBLIC ACCESS 24/7 on or through the private property sawmill industrial site.

To reach the end of the spit, Park at the Cowichan river bridge on Tzouhalem Rd. and adhere to the trail along the edge of the farm and estuary. Stay on the water side of the tree line when passing by the industrial site.

It is an easy walk with beautiful views and wildlife.

You park at the "Estuary Trail - Ducks Unlimited" marker. There are blackberry brambles, so clothes could get caught along the trail if you don't walk in the centre. There is a dangerous steep drop-off into the river shortly after the "Cowichan estuary trail" marker so tread carefully. The view at the end of the water and mountains is beautiful

Beautiful trail filled with greenery and birds. Expect to see all sorts of wildlife. Red wings, swans, otters, rabbits, heroes, and loads more. A nature photographer's paradise.

Pleasant, easy, short hike. First 3/4 are on a level, gravel path, then there is a short forested path with some roots and small hills. After that you come out on a gravel road that I believe is used by vehicles on weekdays. We went on Sunday and there were no vehicles. Lots of beautiful view spots, Swans, Eagles and Heron.

I live near by, this is a beautiful peaceful place to go, when it is not between shifts for the workers at the end of their well maintained road, they tend to drive quickly. beautiful serene and camera scenic. lots of birds, and seasonal wildlife. very easy access.

Three separate trails to view the Estuary, and all three offer excellent scenery, and nature and especially birding photo opportunities. Check your tide tables online, as the bay is shallow and when the tide is down the water is quite far from the trails, so fewer closeup birds. Also lots of birds in the fields such as owls, hawks and geese
