Gold standard long-term care exists in the Fraser Region, and it exists in buildings that are over 50 years old, owned and operated by Fraser Health Authority! I speak of the Cottage Worthington Pavilions. I am sure they have the same shortage of staff and funds as everyone else, but you would never know it.

• Care is always attentive and tender.
• You never feel there is a staffing shortage.
• The activities are varied and meaningful.
• You never see the staff just visiting among themselves while on duty
• The bottom line? My mother at 99 years of age is enjoying the last years of her life in a crumbling health care system. That is a gift beyond price.

So, we cannot say enough. As in any well-managed place, this incredible care just seems to happen, but we know there is wonderful leadership behind it. The leadership and managing team, as well as the entire staff, should be recognized and held up as an example of what long-term care can be in BC. Given the seven different homes with which we have had experience, none come close.

I cannot say enough about the excellent care my mother has received here. The MD and RNs are top-notch, and so are all the care aides.

She felt more safe and comfortable than she did at her previous facility (which was a contractor and NOT Fraser Health).

Staff that were new to me always approached and introduced themselves, and mom really enjoyed the activities and participated (as best she could).
