I would not recommend adopting from here. My dog and I were separated and he was brought in here over Easter weekend...he was in there a for not a even a week by the time the long weekend passed and I contacted her, where I was then belittled for my puppy who is a giant breed and should NOT be neutered until after 10months of age and charged $210 for her so called services, my dog was not returned with his collarz and upon pick up I have never dealt with such a horrible lady iny life, she even called the police to meet me there as she didn't want to face any charges (I'm presuming she's been charged before....given her deamaner I wouldn't be surprised). Also the shelter is very dirty and gross 🤢 not sanitary and the animals were being screamed at by a few men.....
Buyer beware with this one!

Several years ago I adopted a sweet black cat from this place named Kabuki. She'd been sheltered here for 3 years before I adopted her. After adopting her, the staff called us to check up on her as they missed her but hoped she was doing well.

I'm happy to report that, to this day, she is still happy and loved in her furrever home. I hope the staff who loved her knows she just as loved still.

My experience with CARES has been nothing short of phenomenal. We adopted a cat through them twice now and Barb has not only gone above and beyond to make sure these animals get a new home but updates you, and ensures you constantly of their well being. I cannot say enough good things about adopting from CARES. Do it!!

The building and kennels look very well. The one dog I saw was great and has good prospects. The person I dealt with was very insulting, without knowing that I have worked with animals for 50 years and worked with the Calgary City Police for 15 years said that If I adopt that dog they would never let me have a cat later on. This is because I couldn't train an animal NOT to be aggressive toward a cat. This is the same attitude some people have toward pitbulls, because they only know how to fight and should be banned. Without knowing how people work with animals and their qualifications made judgements that only the person they have to train the dogs was good enough, realize that the animals need to be adopted. EXPECT to be INSULTED on your abilities to train animals, because this old lady will make judgements that have nothing to do with reality or your training and abilities.

We had rescued a dog lost on the highway Easter weekend, and after getting disgusting "advice" from Lethbridge Animal Control, we called Claresholm and they were willing to see us easter Sunday to take the dog in and find his owner. I simply cannot remember the name of the wonderful lady who answered the phone that Saturday but thank you for your kindness and compassion towards animals. A shout out to Lethbridge for their ongoing shameful behavior.

This shelter was lovely to work with. From the very beginning they were in communication with me they have been organized, and care for the well being of their animals. I adopted a wonderful kitten named Pippy, and she has been a great addition to my home. Thank you for bringing us together.

The people who work here are dedicated and are so blessed in their efforts to house and take care of animals that need to be rescued, adopted and then given away to well screened candidates for those to finally give a great home .
We recently adopted two lovely kittens and thank this organisation for their assistance and support.

We were able to adopt our lovely kitten Juniper from Claresholm and were impressed by the passion and support from the volunteers at the Claresholm animal shelter throughout. You can tell they absolutely care for all the animals under their care.
