Thursday November 28th I attending the new "Burnaby Ukulele Connection" It was a great turnout and almost don't want to share a good thing!

Jill and Brentwood House have done a real good thing here. More people showed up than they expected, so was a good time had by all. The youngest was 9 with her brother 11 and we had people from all over Vancouver's municipalities.

It started with a "Tips" session from none other than "Peter Luongo" the Patriarch of the Langley Ukulele Ensemble. His lesson was smooth as silk and covered a range of abilities in a hands on group playing, what we were learning. Amazing how fast everyone picked it up! He was assisted by a protégé Simon. A very talented teenager with a love for music.

The evening went on with a break then some group strumming with a few of the "Tips" worked in 😉 An intermission with snacks from Whole Foods, some individual performances and a lot of good hearted laughs and giggles.

I could go on about the positive atmosphere but have to say I was so impressed with Peter's enthusiasm and passion for teaching was a clear and strong as the first time I saw it, 20+ years ago.

Here is the email Notification, we received so I don't mess up any details 😉

Look forward to seeing you there!

Hi all…

There’s a new ukulele jam in town! (You can never have too many!)

This one we’re calling “Burnaby Ukulele Connection” and we’d love you to join us for our inaugural jam on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at the BNH Brentwood House (Burnaby Community Services) located at 2055 Rosser Avenue (corner of Lougheed Hwy & Rosser) in Burnaby. For those who want the ease of transit, it is one block from the Brentwood Skytrain Station.

We plan on meeting on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays of each month from 6 to 9 pm. Why three hours? From 6 to 6:45 pm there will be skill building led by Peter Luongo (teacher and founder of the Langley Ukulele Ensemble) and from 7 to 9 pm will be a group jam and Open Mic for those who would like to share or lead a song, either solo or with a group, but no pressure! This is a casual, fun gathering to enjoy our favourite instrument! If you can’t make it for the skill-building portion, please still join us for the jam and Open Mic.

Songbooks will be available to purchase for $10. To have one reserved for you, please visit: https://www.langleyukes.com/store (We are only covering the cost of printing) Songs will also be projected and a .pdf download is available upon request.

The only “cost” to this event is a $5 membership per year to the Burnaby Neighbourhood House, which can be purchased on their site here: https://burnabynh.ca/about_membership/.

Looking forward to jamming with you!!

Note: We will not be meeting until/if a new venue is found in the Lougheed Hwy & Willington area 😉 .

Yep it was too successful, need a bigger venue... hint hint 😉

Will update the post when we hear back from the BUC!

It gets crowded on weeknights in the Zumba class. Not enough room in the Sauna, too many people.

has a kind heart but from my experience jessie is distracted, confused, and not much help in helping anyone example: said I changed my mind in having bed bugs treated with heat when all the letters point to the landlord because of him I am unable to present my case to the Burnaby Tenancy Branch thanks jesse
