Wonderful staff committed to helping youth get through a rough patch in a healthy way. If you are the parent of a child who is placed at Anago, rest assured that your child is SAFE and comfortable. The kids go on outings to the gym or library, they attend medical appointments, they continue with school (onsite classes!), they can watch tv, they eat foods they like (and eat often!), you are able to phone anytime and ask to speak to your child and you can visit your child anytime too (well, it should be scheduled 24hrs ahead of time to coordinate staff),you can being your child their toiletries and their own clothes to wear. They do not require any financial support as all snacks, essentials are provided to them (there is no use for the child to have money) and the staff relate to the youths in a similar manner to Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Canada - they are positive role models that the kids look up to. The staff (currently) all appear to be in their 20's and early 30's, so their isn't a big generation gap. The teens generally really take to the staff in a positive way. They are all passionate about steering the teen in a healthy direction towards healthy reintegration with society and connect them to programs and services to help the youth become more independent and stable.

Anago is a godsend for anxious parents, youth who are in trouble with the law for the first time or youth with anxiety. It's designed to look like a home so it's not scary like a jail and it's a local residence which is a lot easier for family visits (the next closest location is an hour and a half away - which is where the youth will end up if they become high risk - and the other locations are not as cushy / they're real juvenile detention centers).
