I have been an acorn resident since nov of 2022 and all I can say the staff here have always been helpful to me and my family and overcoming addiction. The staff Candice Mike Rjay carol Nathan and Stephan have been a great help to me my family and everyone here. Once you get here there is a 30 day long buddy system for you to go you get convinces cigarettes etc, just to get to know the new client, this is a bully free bigotry free LGBT friendly zone and does not tolerate any sort of inappropriate behaviour. The new program director Stephan is great and super friendly and welcoming to the new clients and always helps out with every sort of problem you have and always works out something great in the end. The staff never get mad at clients if they make a mistake what so ever they deal with it in a civil manner with there words in a very reasonable way. I’ve leaned so many life lessons here in my life thanks to the staff and my peers here yes I would 100% recommend acorn especially if you are looking for a long term stay in a civilized welcoming second stage home to restart your life

I was a resident of Acorn between Sept-Nov 2024. All men who I went to Cedars (the treatment centre whom operates Acorn) relapsed who attended their second stage Acorn. Acorn is a ghost house right now… meaning, it’s literally empty. And it’s empty for a reason: the exceptionally unjustifiable high cost coupled with the fact that the majority who attend here relapse and don’t make it, makes this second stage a non-starter. The cleanliness is a joke. The rules are very very lax and part of the problem. They also have homophonic, bigoted and terrible long term residents there who they permit to exude grossly inappropriate shameful behaviour (you know who you are — you’re next). I’d sooner look at places where the rooms are occupied showing there’s success there. This place isn’t worth it. And your recovery matters.

Acorn offers excellent support for addicts in recovery. It's a place to slowly get back into the world with support and guidance from people who have experience in recovery. My son is there and I can't think of a better place for him to be.

The community is a group of guys who understand each other and counsellors are always available because they live in the house with the community. There's structure and fun too (even with COVID-19 restrictions).

My son is thriving there. He's working on understanding himself and his addiction and feels more confident every day about how to create a new life. He isn't isolated; doesn't have to go it alone and that's making all the difference. I feel a lot of gratitude for Acorn.

I went to treatment at cedars for 78 days and they kept suggesting I should go to acorn after my treatment. I finally caved in and said I would go to acorn , thinking I would only be there for 1 to 2 months tops....I ended up staying at acorn for the better half of 9 months hahaha!

Treatment got me clean off of the booze and drugs bUt acorn gave me the firmest foundation I have ever had in life. I worked through my codependency there And still continue to incorporate the things I have learned into my daily life. I was able to work through a lot of my fears at acorn. For example I have always been fearful of conflict and expressing my true feelings to people and how to go about dealing with situations in a healthy way. At acorn you are living with a good group of guys that are all in the same boat and are striving to make a change in their lives so it was the safest place for me to be able to work on these fears of mine!

I burnt my life to the ground before getting clean and with the help of acorn I started working part time doing landscaping and then ended up finding a career in Vancouver and I have my own place now with an alumni from acorn. That is all thanks to acorn and all of the staff there...they helped me every step of the way and I took all of their suggestions seriously and was patient with myself and my recovery. Things are continuing to work out well for me, I still stop by acorn and see all of the new guys and it helps me stay grounded in my recovery.

The staff kept telling me you will never know who you will meet or what opportunities may arise in recovery and guess what? it’s true all of the good things including my new career is all from me meeting people through acorn and the program and having patience and taking suggestions!

All in all great place, great staff, great guys, great food and great structured living over there!

Acorn has given me my son back. After many years of addiction and Rehabs, Acorn has made all the difference from the first day. The amazing staff, program and care and concern to this “family disease “, I am at a loss for words to express how thankful I am to have my family back. I thought my sons life was over, now he is facing his future with a wonderful outlook and positivity I never thought possible. To say "I love this place" is to put it mildly. Acorn is the perfect place to practice what one learns in treatment in real world applications. Clean, comfortable environment that purposely solidifies sobriety and crafts character necessary for successful living.

I am so grateful for the amazing people here in Acorn they all helped me. During my first month at acorn I was an extremely difficult client due to certain personal dynamics and also being a teenager the staff members were straight up with me and were understanding about the lack of life skills I obtained and decided to give me tons of chances at recovery and now I am happy and doing better and better
