The Lady in the front Desk told us that it is not allowed for international students to get any items for SSMHH.

Whoever wrote the review saying Wendy was the kindest woman ever must've met her when she was drunk or something because she was the most ignorant and rudest woman I've ever encountered especially in that workplace. I am glad she's gone

Helping Hands helped us when my son moved up to the Soo right at the beginning of the pandemic, when every store except Wal Mart closed down. They brought us kitchen stuff and just all kinds of things that made moving in easier. I was blown away by their generosity. Also, their thrift store has the best prices of any thrift store I’ve ever been to. Those women running that place are volunteers and they are awesome. I tell people about Helping Hands all the time.

I tried to get help at Christmas time for a mom with a special needs teen, the mom didn’t want to give her name for personal reasons but I told Wendy she could use my name and I would pickup and deliver any Christmas help to the family that they could get, Wendy tried hard to get this moms name but out of respect for the mom I didn’t give it, I was told by Wendy to get a list of things this teen would like so I did just that and sent it off to Wendy .. Wendy also asked me for a reminder message and I did that as well... Wendy took it upon herself to totally ignore my messages after I sent her the list and had the moms hopes for help up! It wasn’t until after Christmas when I messaged Wendy back asking for a managers name and number when she finally stopped ignoring me to ask what the problem was , she knew very well what the problem was! She refused to give me any contact information for superiors etc and then blocked me from helping hands, if she cannot receive recognition for her actions then you will be ignored and you will get no help ! Don’t let her fool you, if anyone knows who to contact to report this issue that would be great !

Helping Hands is a non profit that accepts donations of clothing, household items, and non perishables. Anyone can shop here, and the deals are great! They have a monthly dollar days where you can fill a shopping basket and it only costs $1. They also have great giveaways through their Facebook page.
