Maybe this place is great for helping people. But wow they treat volunteers horrible. Went there for a first time to assist them and stood in the sun for 45 mins. The bosses ignored me and were so detached. When you ask someone to show up, they make time in their day and use their gas. Never again! Volunteers are doing you a favour not the other way around.

Thank you for the awesome work that you all do there. I recently moved into the area and have heard nothing but great things about the woman’s habitat. Amazing people.

I sought out Women's Habitat's housing intake services for myself about a month & a half ago. Things went well initially, but when I was directed to the housing intake worker, the communication was very inconsistent & lacklustre. The initial appointment kept getting rescheduled & no fixed time was set for another two to three weeks.

Eventually, I did have an in-person appointment with the person in charge of housing, who spent most of the time talking about 'how awful' things are because of [insert political party]. Whatever the political & systemic realities of the housing crisis, that was not the time to bring any of that up, especially when a client is in need. Spouting off abstract & 'macro' problems when someone is in desperate need of practical help is frankly out-of-touch & tone-deaf. There was a huge lack of reading the room.

To make matters worse, there was no personal follow up from that meeting - despite the woman saying that she would email me about further instructions - so I heard nothing for over a month. Then an Intake worker reached out from a separate organisation & started to ask me for all this information. When I inquired about the process, she kept interrupting me, talking past me & absolutely nothing got done (except giving me a headache). I requested to speak to someone else & instead of referring me, she just told me to call the general line of the company (again, separate from Women's Habitat), but I couldn't get through to anyone.

Then I followed up with Women's Habitat after a month of silence & the original woman just told me that I refused to cooperate with the other service - they are not connected - & blamed me for not getting their action items done (despite me never getting an email with those instructions).

This has been a complete waste of a month. Women's Habitat has done nothing to assist while creating & maintain unnecessary barriers. Do not go to them for support; it's the last thing they offered to me.

These hardworking angels took me in battered, blood-covered, semi-conscious and brought me back to health. No judgment and no attitudes.

They found my family so I could rejoin them and they helped me get the legal/police assistance I needed.

We had fun Theme Days as well as social outings too.
