Interestingly enough, this wasn't our original destination on a trip out to Langley, and when our initial plans fell through, we gave The Barley Merchant a try. It turned out to be a great decision and has already led to several visits. I was cautious at first since food at taprooms can sometimes feel like an afterthought, but here they clearly take their menu seriously. So far, I can confidently recommend burgers, baked brie, and a beet and pear salad, as they really stood out. I also appreciate that they offer their own take on spicy wings instead of relying on the usual Frank’s Red Hot. Both the house and habanero wings are packed with flavor. My experience here is limited to the food, but I’ve heard good things about the beer selection too, and that part is up to you to explore.

It was our first time here and requested the server to recommend us the best seller drinks and appies. For drinks, I had the Strawberry Sunshine and my husband got the Beer Flight which was their beer sampler. We had the Crispy Thai Chicken and the House Spiced Wings. Food was flavourful and well presented. I enjoyed the sliced veggie coin garnishes on top of the Crispy Thai Chicken, together with the sauce, it has the perfect taste and texture combo in every bite. I really enjoyed the cocktail and had two 😊 Will definitely be back to try the other items on their menu. The place had a nice interior too. Special thanks to our server Tawnee.

Too many recommendations on social media bought us here. The environment was too loud and noisy as well as annoying. The chairs were the most uncomfortable ones I have ever sat on, and there were some of the picnic tables that you can find in parks. This was below our expectations and mediocre. I wonder if the people on social media who recommend this place get discounts 🤔

The service was slow, and food was lower than average. I wouldn't be coming back. People might come for beers, but food is not worth mentioning.

We have been multiple times! There's lots of seating! Great ambiance! Always great service! The food options are different and fun! Salad to burgers, pasta to desert. Everything I've had is good!

This could possibly be one of the best meal and service I’ve had. Food is exceptional and beer is excellent. Our bartender Tawnee made great recommendations and offered beer pairings for our meals. She absolutely nailed it. If you’re in town, make this your stop.

Baked Brie - absolutely delicious! You definitely get more sweetness from the apple jam and honey. I couldn’t taste the sundried tomatoes too much. 9/10

Filthy fries - generous portion of fries that is full of a stronger onion flavour 8/10

Crispy Thai chicken - was not expecting this to be so full of flavour. Highly recommend 10/10

Prawn tacos - very messy, there was so much sauce that our tacos kept breaking. Strong tastes of feta 6/10

Meatballs - tasted dry and needed more fat. The arribiata sauce is a good addition 6/10

Smoked brisket sandwich - the brisket was tender and juicy, with a decent amount of smoky flavour, good balance of sauce and seasoning 7/10

Overall they have a great selection and variety of food. All of their spirits and alcohol are locally sourced. The Root Beer cider is a must try!!

Great service in a venue with cool atmosphere, lively vibes, a vast menu for a brewpub with an impressive Canadian Whiskey line up that does whiskey flights. The only thing more impressive is their even more vast line up of 50 beer selections! Prices are fair, and portions are adequate. Place was remarkably clean as well. Great place to get together for game night (Canucks opening game tonight was broadcast), or a great dining option before/after a movie as a large movie theatre is literally next door. Enjoyed my experience here and will make this a repeat place to go.
