Absolutely DISGUSTED by the treatment I received from JOSE working at the front desk in the Coast Capital Langley branch (next to Willowbrook Mall).

I came in on my lunch break from work—I work full-time Monday to Friday and only had one hour to deal with an issue that should have taken 10 minutes. My online banking hadn’t worked in 3 days (kept showing “It’s not you, it’s us”), and I had misplaced my debit card, so I just needed a simple reissue. Instead, I got stuck with Jose, who was the only one at the front available and clearly thinks he’s on a power trip.

When I walked in, Jose couldn’t even be bothered to greet me properly. Instead, he hid behind his computer and beckoned me over with two fingers under his screen—a gesture that felt borderline inappropriate and uncomfortable. In what professional environment is that acceptable? It lacked all respect and came across as creepy and passive-aggressive, especially from a grown man working at a bank.

I explained why I was there, and when he asked for ID, I handed him my Canadian passport and other valid photo identification (including my Peruvian ID). He rudely insisted on only accepting my driver’s license—fine—but when I told him it was in my car and I didn’t have time to dig through gear during my break, he decided to get condescending.

With a smirk, he asked, “So you drove here not knowing where your driver’s license is?” What kind of tone is that? I’ve been to other Coast Capital locations (Fleetwood, Newton, Guildford, Metrotown, Coquitlam) and never had this issue before. I even offered to log into my account on his desktop if it worked—he snapped back sarcastically with, “Oh, so you can log in?” I clarified it was only the desktop site, not the app, and still—he refused to help.

I offered him my security code and a photo of my license, but at that point it was clear he was just being difficult for no reason. So I said, “You’re clearly giving me a hard time,” and took back my passport. And then—he looked me up and down like a creep. That was it. This guy is completely out of line.

Jose, if you’re reading this—you are unprofessional, rude, and downright inappropriate. That smug cop-wannabe attitude? Not cute. Your Napoleon complex is showing. You’re short, dismissive, and you acted like a total jerk for no reason.

Coast Capital management, you seriously need to have a talk with Jose. He should not be working the front desk if he can’t treat customers with basic decency. This was one of the worst banking experiences I’ve ever had. Do better.

Really starting to become tired of all the issues with online banking and the app. It's happening way to often. Most recently using online banking to pay bills and the last confirmation page keeps ending in an error. 24 hours later it's showing my bills have been paid 3 times. Because each time I tried it was going through but a system error not displaying the last page and the transaction didn't show up in my account until 24 hours later.

The tellers here have been so efficient, helpful and friendly everytime I am in. They have helped with complex and rushed transactions and I cannot say enough good things. They remember me by name and I rarely have to go into the bank. Great customer service 🙂

I've been a member for several years but the service I got today was appalling! I respect and understand policies but to be chastised about my finances and to a point where I feel that my privacy was breached after being lead to believe that He was going to find a way to help me was beyond upsetting and unprofessional! Tellers are your frontline staff, they should be welcoming and helpful not judgemental and downright nossy! Please train your staff accordingly or they shouldn't be dealing with members!

Run away!!! I opened this account to start with small bills. Cannot transfer funds that are under $100. Do not get email notifications of new mail, had issues of transferring left over money when I requested a funds transfer was told the bank cannot facilitate. So they stole my money and called it a donation

After the owner responded, they chose to say this is not how they operate but I have three emails from there staff knowing that I requested money back. They need to train their staff, not their clients.

Exceptional service from Jose today at the Willowbrook Branch. Took the time to listen and understand what I needed assistance with and went above and beyond getting it resolved. Fantastic person, and most definitely an incredible asset to the Branch.

This branch has really struggled in the past 6 months. Have gone several times to do USD transactions and I couldn’t because their US machine was acting up. Today I tried again and guess what, it was down again. Tried to use the ATM inside and that one is broken and not usable either. Only two tellers in with a line up to the door. Not great service.
