A fuir!

I visited the emergency department at Langley Memorial Hospital this morning due to a prolonged headache that had been troubling me. From the moment I checked in until my discharge nearly six hours later, I was treated with the utmost care, professionalism, and compassion.

Despite my initial apprehension about going to the emergency, the entire experience turned out to be truly reassuring. The support staff were efficient and kind, ensuring I felt comfortable and informed every step of the way. The nurses were not only attentive and gentle but also incredibly empathetic. Most importantly, the doctor who treated me was thorough, knowledgeable, and genuinely concerned about my well-being.

The level of care I received was exemplary—timely, effective, and deeply human. I am grateful for the dedication and professionalism of everyone involved in my care. Thank you, Langley Memorial Hospital, for turning a stressful situation into one of comfort and confidence. We are fortunate to have such a remarkable facility in our community.

I arrived at the hospital at midnight and stayed until 5 a.m., but unfortunately did not have the opportunity to see a doctor. I was accompanied by my 13-year-old daughter, who became very tired, and eventually I decided to leave without receiving treatment. During this time, I tried to speak with the staff, but was informed by the nurse that no doctor would be available before 6 a.m., and that I could leave if I wished.

What was particularly distressing was that for the entire visit, my daughter was the one pushing my wheelchair, and at no point did any medical staff offer assistance. Having lived in another province previously, I had not experienced such a situation before.

Throughout the visit, I found it difficult to feel cared for or supported. This experience has left me concerned and disappointed with the accessibility of care.

First time feel disappointed about the BC medical system.

Other than the security not making strange people stop smoking at the front door, I found the experience there quite amazing. The facility is very clean and quiet quiet compared to most hospitals. The nurses were good as well. People were friendly at the desk and helpful. My Dad had good care up until he passed. Thank you staff. 🙏

I accompanied a resident to Langley Memorial Hospital’s ER on August 1, 2025, around 12:30 PM. I was sent by her doctor and mental health case manager with limited information, but I brought supporting documents from our nurse, including psychiatric notes.

The triage clerk questioned me about the reason for the visit, and despite my efforts to provide paperwork and get accurate info from our nurse, she responded with a judgmental and condescending attitude. She told me, “You should know your residents well, which doesn’t seem like it,” and continued to speak as if I was being dishonest, even though I explained I work in the recreation department and was only accompanying the resident.

She also made inappropriate comments in front of our anxious resident, like, “Is she medicated?! She’s going to be waiting for hours, and she’ll get agitated like now,” which added unnecessary stress.

We also witnessed her being rude to others. A woman in a wheelchair was trying to get through a door operated by the clerk/security. When my coworker knocked on the window to help, the clerk snapped, “I get to open the door, not them!” and when asked to be kind, she responded, “LIKEWISE, LADY!”

The behavior we experienced and witnessed from this clerk (appeared to be in her 60s, with curly hair and heavy makeup) was extremely unprofessional and disappointing. Kindness and respect should never be optional—especially in a hospital setting.

Everyone complaining about waiting has never had a true emergency. I have unfortunately been to this ER twice and each time they have by passed me to the back and given a bed in Emerg. If you are life or death or in serious distress they will take you back.. I never had to wait in the waiting room. Yes I waited for nurses and doctors but was blessed with the perfect male nurse who checked on me literally every 15 minutes. He and everyone else was wonderful. They even honored my request of having a shower because I was so sick.

If I could give this hospital 0 stars I would. My mom got taken by ambulance to the ER where quite literally everyone was unhelpful, had no knowledge of what to do, disorganized, 0 bedside manner, didn’t even give her a blood test, with 100 medical issues and a history of blood clots. They had no one to help her move around (she had a bad fall) so they were waiting for her to be able to walk on her own to take x-rays. Absolutely 0/10 hospital visit, I will be contacting the patient care quality review board.
