Colloquially also known as Tree Island, situated right next to Denman Island, and a short hop over with a boat from Comox Bay. Many choose to kayak over from Royston for an outing. Lovely spending the day on the Beach, have a BBQ and a Swim in the calm waters. Benefits include far fewer people and less boat traffic alike.

I was reluctant to do this walk because I didn't know what to expect for a low tide, will I have enough time or will I sink or have to swim? Shall I stay or shall I go? I went.
I took the stairs at Morning Beach, would do it again from there as it is a shorter walk to Tree (Sandy) Is. To come away from the point on Denman Is and see the sweeping view of the snow-capped Vancouver Island mountains -- well, photos just don't take your breath away; being there does. It was a zero ft. tide. I walked way out, over rocks and sandbars, across Tree Is. to more pristine beach walking, for a total of 4 hours. I stopped counting bald eagles at tide line, perched on rocks, at 3 dozen...and that was just in one area. But for the tide change, I would have poked around for another four hours. ?

A friend and I kayaked over to Sandy Island.
We launched at Union Bay. The island known to locals as Tree Island is now called Sandy Island. Luckily, I had my camera as there are beautiful trees, with very interesting shapes.
I hadn’t realized that you could camp on the island. No fires. What a nice day for kayaking being on an Indigenous Island which has native plants and beautiful scenery!

A 1km walk from Denman at the low tide and a worthwhile spot to spend the day adventuring. Many interesting plants, soft sand, and beach finds. The island itself is filled with thorny shrubs and plants, which has led to it being largely untouched. Bring an umbrella for shelter on a hot day as you will be quite exposed. A very tranquil place. Keep an eye on the tide!

A beautiful place what is shared by people who have a respectful for the islands nature.
and people who make a mess of it, leave toilet paper with there human waste in the forest, having dogs running through 1 areas what is preserved and protected 2 letting their dogs running after the wild life of the island and 3 screaming loud and using loud radios
Shame on those people

Easy paddle on kayak from union bay. Lovely way to spend a day with a loved one on a secluded beach. Saw many jellies in the water.

What can you say about a sandy beach on an uninhabited island - but a great place to chill out, have a picnic and a relaxing day away from the crowds
