I would like to actually sue the doctor who actually saw my 10 year old son. Folks, beware of Dr.Woolf here. You are lucky if you get good treatment from him. My son was in extreme pain in his hip and thigh to the point that he couldn’t walk at all. It started on a Friday evening and I have been giving him Tylenol and Advil at home but it was doing nothing for him. Son’s pain started after a Basketball session so, we thought that it is a muscle sprain. We took him to Taber ER on Saturday morning. Dr.Woolf checked him and concluded it as a leg pain as Xray(the only test he ordered) didn’t show any fractures and advised us to give rest, Tylenol and Advil. We went back to ER Sunday midnight again because my son was crying out loud in pain consistently for two days.Unfortunately,it was the same doctor again. Without any further testing, he concluded it as Hamstring pull and advised to follow the same instructions as before. All this time my son was saying that the pain is between his legs and groin area. Doctor even said to me that may be he is pretending to have pain. What a prejudice!! We were sent home and the next day we had to take him to ER again as pain was not controlled at all after following all the instructions. Surprisingly, dr.Woolf saw my son at the registration window and said to him that he has nothing more to do. Take rest, fluids and Tylenol, Advil, the pain will go away. And it will take sometimes a week to 10 days, there is no way around it he said.My son got so frustrated and he was in lots of pain. He said to his dad that if we wait hours here and get to see dr. Woolf again and if he is going to say the same thing, then why sitting here. So they returned home. Why wouldn’t a doctor think in a different direction when a 10 year old has that much of pain and not responding to meds? Why would a doctor be adamant about his diagnosis? Why wouldn’t he even care to order a lab test?
At this point(after 6 days of intense pain and sleepless nights) we got appointment with family doctor which I believe was a heavenly intervention. Dr.Kiared met my son only once before(we recently moved to Taber) The moment he heard the description of pain and learned the history, he said that it is nothing related to a muscle sprain. He referred him to Lethbridge Pediatric Orthopedics, talked to a doctor there, asked us to take him to Lethbridge right away. Longstory, but in short, blood work revealed severe infection, he was posted for emergency surgery as there was fluid and infection in his hip joint which even got burst. He had severe septic infection, surgeon successfully flushed his hip and removed debriments. He spent his 10th birthday , Easter and his Spring break on a hospital bed. High dose of antibiotics and strong Opioids for pain. My question to Dr. Woolf is , if a pt has moderate to severe pain, will Tylenol or Advil work? If the pt doesn’t respond well to those meds, don’t you run more tests to rule out other conditions? I understand you the first time and I would even agree with the second visit (let it be) But why would you try to turn a pt away right from the registration desk. You have to answer for delaying care for my son. If we didnt consult dr.Kiared, we would have even lost my son’s limb or even his life. I respect healthcare team and had patiently waited in ER several times without any complaint. Despite the wait, I had a belief in Canadian Healthcare that we get quality treatment once seen by a doctor. Dr.Woolf has broken my trust in Emergency department. I even overheard him behaving rude to another pt. Yes, we know that you are busy. That doesn’t take you away from your responsibilities. I am a healthcare team member. I have worked under pressure , but never been rude or took judgemental approach to anyone. Pls don’t assume things when it comes to precious lives of people. Are you going to compensate for all the troubles and pain that your incompetance have caused to my poor child? Are you going to even apologise for delaying the treatment he needed?

All the rooms were empty when we got there with my 3 year old. They put us in a room right away and then never came to check on us. 2½ hours later, still didn't have a single nurse even look at us, not even as they walked past our room.
We left without being seen by anyone. And then got super judgemental looks and comments from the nurse at the desk who had a bunch of excuses as to why we hadn't been seen.

Very impressed with the nurses and the doctor who delivered our baby. They completely respected our birth plan even though we were prepared to face backlash from them about certain things. Delivery room was very big and spacious. Nurses and doctor were all super kind

Worse place in alberta. Taber home care is non existent, rude, they all should be hanging their heads in shame, treating seniors poorly. Toxic work environment, watch them carefully. They watch the clock, should not be getting paid by the hour. It's our tax dollars, why are we paying premium for non existent services. World class health care? Third world country health "care"
