Friendly staff. Great meals. Close to everything and the shoreline. The bus terminal right across the street comes in handy too!
They help a lot of people on those blocks and it's the heart and soul of downtown social services and Barrie!

The neighborhood itself has the inner city problems, sights and sounds, so it's a good idea to stick to the establishments, especially at night and on a weekend.

Swarmed by seasonal tourists, be aware while on foot as it's pretty active with all walks of life. There's also stressful drivers all the time on those streets. It can get busy so never just trust the traffic lights!

Staff here are very compassionate and helpful. Went to get information about a loved one and the staff gave us ways to get in touch with them ( no personal information was given out, nor did they confirm or deny whether the person we were looking for was there).

"The Sally" helps a lot of people who are in need of a place to rest their heads for the night. They provide a meal every day for lunch from 12 - 12:50pm & supper every evening from 5 - 7pm.
They have an array of programs the community can access and utilize, ranging from laundry and showers to housing and clothing.
The Bail Program helps people who are in a situation with the law, an assurity to get them out on bail and a chance to deal with the matter on the "outs" instead of locked up, which could pose problems being represented fairly while locked up on the "inside".
Staff for the most part are there to help and have a difficult job at times. Lack of proper training and protocol to deal with such a wide range of different individuals, most with mental health and addiction issues I discovered poses a problem for both the staff and clients. That's just my opinion and point of view. I also found that some of the staff seemed to really not care as much about the clients who use services and also reside there. Find another job because it takes a certain amount of empathy to do it day in and day out. Kudos to the ones that actually genuinely care. You're appreciated.

If you build it they will come. Thank you so much for the wonderful worknyoundo with people of many needs,. I have been in court when you have provided legal help. I have been on the streets of Barrie to witness your mealnprogram. And nighttime housing. Thank you!!!
There is a group that is falling through the cracks. The funded homeless. Imagine a campground location for those people who are living on the streets or in tents. They will not go inside or have their lives taken over.
They are funded and have skills could set up tens
Ts in a supervised green space outskirts away from downtown. Win win could pay their way. Want to control their own lives but like all society they need police garbage removal mental health services.
They do not require much, but given a place and some materials could build their own cabins .
One person or small group at a time. If you build it they will come.
Thank you for all you are already doing . For the last two yearsbi have had 2000b dollars per month and have not been able to find a place to live given mental diagnosis.. looking for answers outside the box.
