Truly breathtaking pile of rocks!!! More impressive than the pyramids of giza and on par with Niagara Falls. Top 3 locations in Canada, ney, the world! Be careful because if you throw the rocks, they explode on impact. However, this was the best place for rock throwing. Very affordable! Works great as I'm 2/3 for proposals here. The number of rocks is above average. Various sizes, shapes, and colours of rocks. Lost track of time here. 15 hours goes by really quick. Great spot for camping under the stars! Some locals say, with careful searching, if you bring a pick axe and shovel you may find rocks. Great spot to cool off on a sunny afternoon. Great service, highly recommend!

Not-So Truly Breathtaking Pile of 'Minerals'...
Still, our grown-up kids found this activity entertaining enough (digging for minerals and tiny crystals embedded in rocks) that it made this a worthwhile visit. After all, it's free of charge. However in the end my youngest one (and even my wife who dislikes getting dirty) found several real gems hidden on that pile of rocks. Myself scooped a full bag of these rocks for my garden back in Ottawa. We stopped by from that wonderful trip across The Bruce Peninsula road trip back in Aug 2022.

If you bring some gear like water for rinsing, goggles, shovel or spade and bucket and put in an hour or 2 you can d find some interesting things.

Its a good place to start your rock hounding experience. The kids will like it. Not a great variety of rocks but easy to find easy to access and its free.

Not hard to find, most of the really nice pieces were either buried or already taken. However the main type there was beautiful and you can collect a lot of really gorgeous pieces.

Apparently they turn over the rock pile periodically, but when this is done it's best to wait until after a rain to wash away all the dirt. Using a UV light at night in such conditions can reveal some neat minerals.

It’s a great way to get started on rock hunting. Bring proper tools and a guide to identify what you may find.
The only tricky part is finding the place!

Great spot for fluorescent calcite, scapolite and hackmanite of you're into UV minerals. Be sure to park on the street nearby though. The no cars allowed on the pathway signage is only visible from one end of the access and it's a very tiny sign! Tyrants, I mean OPP will attempt fishing expeditions of your vehicle if your park along the path unwittingly. 😉
