I came the extra distance to visit this emergency room instead of a closer location and it was well worth it. I was in a minor motorcycle accident and came just to double check that everything was alright. I got there at ~9:20 AM and was able to see a doctor and leave by 10:00 AM. I have never experienced such quick service in any other emergency room. On top of the speed of service, the triage nurse, receptionist, and doctor were also extremely kind.

I’m actually local to Cambridge, but I’ve always found the doctors and staff at St Mary’s to be really kind. At about 1:30 yesterday I had something fall in my eye while cleaning a wall, we have been renovating for a month so the amount of particles floating around, who knows. But I couldn’t get it out and I tried everything I could. I went to a walk in who barely looked in my eye, despite me trying to point to exactly where it was bugging me under my top lid, but gave me drops and sent me on my way. By 9p I was in agony. The sharp pain for hours on end was making me crazy. There was no position that I couldn’t feel something sharp stabbing me, everything was blurry at that point, my eye so bloodshot and my under eye and lid swollen, and I had reached my pain limit. The triage nurse put numbing drops in my eye and was so sweet. I got in really quickly to the doctor and I was so grateful. I showed him exactly where the pain was and he put orange drops in my eye, did some checks, and then flipped my eyelid inside out and swiped with a cutip, I felt a sharp pain and instant relief. I nearly cried. Very grateful for the quick help from the staff here. Very thankful to that doctor!

Somehow our experience is very different than other reviewers.

Yes, there was long wait time. But it is mainly due to the shortage of doctors and medical professionals in Ontario. Comparing to the Walk-in clinics and our family doctor, we had much better experience at the St Mary's hospital Emergency.

We were taken care by a doctor, 5 nurses and the professionals at the labs. Really, no issues and they were all attentive, polite and friendly. But of course, they all over work.

Suggest that we need to be fair to the hospital staff. There is nothing they can do about the shortage of medical professionals on the macro environment. Let's be understandable.

The only complaint I have is the shortage of parking space.

Had surgery here. Absolute wonderful and smooth experience. The he staff was lovely welcoming and very comforting.
It's like angels took me in, put me to sleep, performed my surgery, then simply vanished. Nurses were friendly.

To people reading the negative reviews, please note majority of people have positive experiences , they are thankful to the staff in person and then just go about their day and dont think about leaving reviews.
However, people who want to make complain will make sure to always complain about their experiences online on a public platform.

Say what you will but I wouldn't be alive without the nurses, doctors, surgeons and the admin staff at this hospital. Yes it's me the guy many of you hate at St.Mary's. I'm truly grateful for keeping me alive with Crohn's disease.

Parking situation is horrible. The nurse and doctor who saw my wife with mastitis and an abscess did nothing and now a couple days later its even worse. No mention of how to care for the wound, cleaning or what to look for if its getting better or worse. Just “wait and see”.

Grand river hospital is much better and they should learn a thing or two.

Unbelievably slow emergency department, not nearly enough doctors. They’re understaffed and overworked, with a 9 hour wait time. An old lady was groaning in pain for 6+ hours before she was put in a bed and left for another two hours to moan in pain before she was seen. Nurses, reception and doctors are polite but there’s simply too many patients to handle reasonably, there’s one doctor while there’s 50+ people in the waiting room and dozens waiting in beds. We arrived at 1am and didn’t see a doctor until 10am!!! From 2am-4am no patients were called in to be seen and the waiting room kept getting busier and busier. At 7:15am we were told we were next, but the only doctor was in another department so we didn’t see her until 10. I appreciate the kindness of the nurses but a 9 hour wait time is insane.
I’ve never been to such a slow hospital.

I needed a CT done and they are running 24/7 to accommodate the current wait lists. Everyone was amazing and friendly. I rarely have any kind of negative experience when I need to go there. Thank-you.
