I have participated in several studies at the Centre for Ocular Research and Education over the past six months and have had consistently excellent experiences. The research and administration staff exemplify credibility and professionalism, caring for research participants at every stage of the process. I have not encountered more competent and thoughtful people. It is proving to be a wonderful opportunity to participate in quality scientific research and product innovation, learn about ocular health in general, and try out new products (ex: contact lenses, eye drops). Participants are additionally compensated for their time. So far, my participation has included creating a profile in their participant database, completing questionnaires to determine eligibility for studies of interest, and in-person visits/at-home tasks during the studies themselves. Their website provides lots of helpful information. I could not recommend CORE more highly.

*Two tips that I needed that you may not need:
1) Parking: there are two ‘O’ lots. If you are told to park in ‘O’ lot, it probably means the ‘O-Visitor’ lot. The other ‘O’ lot is for staff, and probably won’t let you in.
2) CORE is a bit buried within the building (top, back, left corner if facing the building with your back to University Avenue) and can be tricky to find within the building the first time. If you can find the elevator, then the signage towards CORE should get you the rest of the way there.

Do some studies here! It is a great way to get some cash and free contact lenses sometimes if you are in a good study. People are super sweet. Always have fun and it helps scientific research!!!
