Picked up a cherry strudel and almond kringle. Both were very tasty and seemed quite fresh. We really liked the filling in the strudel and crunchiness of the kringle. Staff were friendly. Have been coming here occasionally for years and will continue based on today’s experience.

Walk-in the young lady van on the counter was on her phone didn't bother saying hi back to me waited until she finished her phone call didn't even bother to end her phone call. Ordered two dozen cross buns tasted like they were worse than day old they were so dry they were terrible. Croissants more like a bun not flaky at all. Between the quality of the food and the quality service would not recommend. This used to be an unbelievable great place to go friendly service fresh baking. I know they're under new owners the new owners seem to have bought a business for a business not because they're bakers and certainly doesn't seem like they enjoy what they do. Again do not recommend.

I ordered a Christmas dinner and a box of Christmas baked goodies. It was wonderful! I love how comforting all the food was and how good it tasted. Look at how great my meal turned out after reheating!

I placed a last-minute order for my sister’s birthday cake at Hillcrest Bakery, and I couldn’t be more impressed! Akash and Seerat were absolutely amazing — they were so sweet and accommodating. Despite the short notice, they created exactly the cake I sent them the picture. It not only looked perfect but tasted incredible too. Highly recommend them for their professionalism, creativity, and warm customer service!

Ordered a day prior: sticky cinnamon buns. When I picked up my order the following day, the store changed the order (without informing me) from "sticky" to "glazed" (or iced) cinnamon buns as shown in the order note. The lady at the counter couldn't explain why it was changed and who changed it from their side. She offered to order the right one and if I would come back the next day and pick up the right variety. I was already there, so I declined and picked the glazed one. It would have been less inconvenient if someone called me about it before i picked it up at the designated time. I suspect that the store may have given my order to someone else and replaced it with what was available when I came to pick it up.
Though it wasn't what I ordered, the glazed cinnamon buns were fresh, moist, and dense. It was reasonably priced too.
The bakery looks very impressive, quite contemporary, and clean with a variety of tasty pastries and delis at fair prices. Happy to find this bakery in the Whiterock area - a real hidden gem! I would give them another chance when i order sticky cinnamon buns again next time.

UPDATE: Ordered a Pineapple Upside Down Cake (PUDC) for my wife's birthday. She tasted this from Hillcrest Bakery last year and she couldn't stop talking about how moist, rich and delicious it was! However, Hillcrest stopped selling it for a while. Called to order and Michelle arranged with the masterful baker. My wife was incredibly surprised when the cake was presented on her birthday. It made her birthday - and she enjoyed and savoured the cake tremendously! Hillcrest, a real precious gem in the Whiterock community. The PUDC was heavenly, a true timeless and retro treat - the best PUDC on earth! thank you Michelle and Hillcrest Bakery!

Found this bakery a few years ago. Noticed they have German chocolate cake. I got this cake for my birthday 2 years ago and I loved it, so did everyone in my family. My friends enjoyed it too and they started coming here to get that exact cake. I got this cake a few days ago and I was soo disappointed. They filling was literally as if they put corn syrup or something and just a little coconut. There were no nuts at all. I have a picture of my previous cake to compare with the one I got a few days ago and there’s a huge difference. They forgot to put the pecans in the filling and only put a little coconut, all you could taste is super sweet corn syrup flavour. Never going to come here and am sharing this with my friends who loved them too.

Picked up two small meat pies for almost $10 realistically worth maybe three dollars each. The beef and vegetable pie had maybe a tablespoon of ground beef in a moist flower paste with absolutely no vegetables or flavour. The crust on the bottom was not cooked and chewy.
I asked the person working there, if the pies had been in contact with cilantro, as I have an allergy. She just shrugged her shoulders, and continued to ask me for money.
I don’t know if this is under new ownership or not, but I won’t be back.
Also smelled very much like an Indian restaurant in there not a bakery.
